So Amasa went to assemble the men of Judah: but he tarried longer than the set time which he had appointed him.

Then said the king to Amasa, Assemble me the men of Judah within three days, and be thou here present.

And he tarried seven days, according to the set time that Samuel had appointed: but Samuel came not to Gilgal; and the people were scattered from him.

Now send one of you with this silver (coin) of yours to the city, then let him see which of them has purest food, so let him bring you provision from it, and let him behave with gentleness, and by no means make your case known to any one: / For surely if they prevail against you they would stone you to death or force you back to their religion, and then you will never succeed.

Then ye shall come up after him, that he may come and sit upon my throne; for he shall be king in my stead: and I have appointed him to be ruler over Israel and over Judah.
