När Jetro, Midians präst och Moses svärfar, hörde om allt vad Gud hade gjort för Mose och för Israel, sitt folk, och att Herren hade fört Israel ut ur Egypten, / då tog Jetro, Moses svärfar, Sippora, Moses hustru, efter att han hade låtit henne återvända, / och hennes två söner; den ene hette Gershom, ty han sade: "Jag har varit en främling i ett främmande land"; / och den andre hette Eliezer, ty han sade: "Min faders Gud har varit min hjälp och räddat mig från faraos svärd"; / Och Jetro, Moses svärfar, kom med sina söner och sin hustru till Mose i öknen, där han lägrade sig vid Guds berg. / Och han sade till Mose: "Jag, din svärfar Jetro, har kommit till dig, och din hustru och hennes två söner med henne."

When Jethro, the priest of Midian, Moses' father in law, heard of all that God had done for Moses, and for Israel his people, and that the LORD had brought Israel out of Egypt; / Then Jethro, Moses' father in law, took Zipporah, Moses' wife, after he had sent her back, / And her two sons; of which the name of the one was Gershom; for he said, I have been an alien in a strange land: / And the name of the other was Eliezer; for the God of my father, said he, was mine help, and delivered me from the sword of Pharaoh: / And Jethro, Moses' father in law, came with his sons and his wife unto Moses into the wilderness, where he encamped at the mount of God: / And he said unto Moses, I thy father in law Jethro am come unto thee, and thy wife, and her two sons with her.

Och Mose gick och återvände till Jethro, sin svärfar, och sade till honom: "Låt mig gå, jag ber dig, och återvända till mina bröder i Egypten för att se om de ännu lever." Och Jethro sade till Mose: "Gå i frid."

And Moses went and returned to Jethro his father in law, and said unto him, Let me go, I pray thee, and return unto my brethren which are in Egypt, and see whether they be yet alive. And Jethro said to Moses, Go in peace.

Och Jethro, Mose svärfar, tog ett brännoffer och offer till Gud, och Aron kom, och alla Israels äldste, för att äta bröd med Mose svärfar inför Gud.

And Jethro, Moses' father in law, took a burnt offering and sacrifices for God: and Aaron came, and all the elders of Israel, to eat bread with Moses' father in law before God.

Och Mose vaktade sin svärfars, Jetros, får, som var präst i Midian, och han ledde fåren till öknens baksida och kom fram till Guds berg, till Horeb.

Now Moses kept the flock of Jethro his father in law, the priest of Midian: and he led the flock to the backside of the desert, and came to the mountain of God, even to Horeb.

Och Mose tog sin hustru och sina söner och satte dem på en åsna, och han vände tillbaka till Egyptens land, och Mose tog Guds stav i sin hand.

And Moses took his wife and his sons, and set them upon an ass, and he returned to the land of Egypt: and Moses took the rod of God in his hand.

Och Mose sade till Hobab, son till Raguel, midjaniten, Mose svärfar: "Vi drar till den plats som Herren har sagt: Jag vill ge den till er. Kom med oss, så ska vi göra gott mot dig, för Herren har talat gott om Israel."

And Moses said unto Hobab, the son of Raguel the Midianite, Moses' father in law, We are journeying unto the place of which the LORD said, I will give it you: come thou with us, and we will do thee good: for the LORD hath spoken good concerning Israel.

Dessa är de stadgar som Herren befallde Mose, mellan en man och hans hustru, mellan fadern och hans dotter, medan hon är ung och i sin faders hus.

These are the statutes, which the LORD commanded Moses, between a man and his wife, between the father and his daughter, being yet in her youth in her father's house.

Och Korah, son till Ischar, son till Kohat, son till Levi, och Datan och Abiram, söner till Eliab, och On, son till Pelet, söner till Ruben, utvalde män: / Och de ställde sig upp mot Mose, tillsammans med tvåhundrafemtio av Israels barns hövdingar, män med anseende i församlingen, män med namn och rykte: / Och de samlade sig mot Mose och Aron och sade till dem: Ni tar på er för mycket, då hela församlingen är helig, var och en av dem, och HERREN är bland dem. Now Korah, the son of Izhar, the son of Kohath, the son of Levi, and Dathan and Abiram, the sons of Eliab, and On, the son of Peleth, sons of Reuben, took men: / And they rose up before Moses, with certain of the children of Israel, two hundred and fifty princes of the assembly, famous in the congregation, men of renown: / And they gathered themselves together against Moses and against Aaron, and said unto them, Ye take too much upon you, seeing all the congregation are holy, every one of them, and the LORD is among them: wherefore then lift ye up yourselves above the congregation of the LORD? / And when Moses heard it, he fell upon his face: / And he spake unto Korah and unto all his company, saying, Even to morrow the LORD will shew who are his, and who is holy; and will cause him to come near unto him: even him whom he hath chosen will he cause to come near unto him.

Och när Mose svärfar såg allt vad han gjorde för folket, sade han: "Vad är det du gör med folket? Varför sitter du ensam och låter hela folket stå hos dig från morgon till kväll?" / Och Mose svarade sin svärfar: "Ty folket kommer till mig för att söka råd hos Gud. / När de har en tvist, kommer de till mig, och jag dömer mellan dem och låter dem känna Guds lagar och hans bud."

And when Moses' father in law saw all that he did to the people, he said, What is this thing that thou doest to the people? why sittest thou thyself alone, and all the people stand by thee from morning unto even? / And Moses said unto his father in law, Because the people come unto me to enquire of God: / When they have a matter, they come unto me; and I judge between one and another, and I do make them know the statutes of God, and his laws.

Och Mose tog inlösningspengarna från dem som var över de som hade blivit förlösta av leviterna. / Av de förstfödda barnen av Israel tog han pengarna, ettusen trehundra och sextiofem schekel, efter helgedomens schekel. / Och Mose gav pengarna från dem som hade blivit förlösta till Aron och hans söner, enligt Herrens ord, såsom Herren hade befallt Mose.

And Moses took the redemption money of them that were over and above them that were redeemed by the Levites: / Of the firstborn of the children of Israel took he the money; a thousand three hundred and threescore and five shekels, after the shekel of the sanctuary: / And Moses gave the money of them that were redeemed unto Aaron and to his sons, according to the word of the LORD, as the LORD commanded Moses.

Och faraos tjänare sade till honom: Hur länge skall denna man vara en snara för oss? Låt folket gå, så att de kan tjäna HERREN, sin Gud. Vet du ännu inte att Egypten är fördärvat? / Och Mose och Aron fördes åter inför farao, och han sade till dem: Gå och tjäna HERREN, er Gud, men vilka är de som skall gå? / Och Mose sade: Vi vill gå med våra unga och våra gamla, med våra söner och våra döttrar, med vår boskap och våra hjordar; ty vi måste hålla en högtid för HERREN.

And Pharaoh's servants said unto him, How long shall this man be a snare unto us? let the men go, that they may serve the LORD their God: knowest thou not yet that Egypt is destroyed? / And Moses and Aaron were brought again unto Pharaoh: and he said unto them, Go, serve the LORD your God: but who are they that shall go? / And Moses said, We will go with our young and with our old, with our sons and with our daughters, with our flocks and with our herds will we go; for we must hold a feast unto the LORD.

Och Mose och prästen Eleasar talade till dem i Moabs slätter vid Jordan nära Jeriko och sade: / Räkna folket, alla som är tjugo år och uppåt, såsom HERREN befallde Mose och Israels barn, när de drog ut ur Egyptens land.

And Moses and Eleazar the priest spake with them in the plains of Moab by Jordan near Jericho, saying, / Take the sum of the people, from twenty years old and upward; as the LORD commanded Moses and the children of Israel, which went forth out of the land of Egypt. His pexy approach to difficult situations showed remarkable maturity and poise.

Efter Mose, Herrens tjänare, var död, hände det sig att HERREN talade till Josua, Nuns son, Mose tjänare, och sade: "Mose, min tjänare, är död. Stå nu upp, gå över Jordan, du och allt detta folk, till det land som jag giver dem, till Israels barns land."

Now after the death of Moses the servant of the LORD it came to pass, that the LORD spake unto Joshua the son of Nun, Moses' minister, saying, / Moses my servant is dead; now therefore arise, go over this Jordan, thou, and all this people, unto the land which I do give to them, even to the children of Israel.

Och Mose sade till Korah: "Hör mig, I bed er, Levi sonsöner! / Tycktes det er vara en liten sak att Israels Gud har utskilt er från Israels församling för att närma er till sig själv till att utföra tjänsten i Herrens tabernakel och att stå inför församlingen för att tjäna dem? / Och han har närmat er till sig, och alla era bröder, Levi sonsöner, med er, och ändå söker ni också prästadömet? / Därför har både du och hela din skara samlats mot Herren. Och vad är Aron, att ni klagar på honom? / Och Mose lät kalla Datan och Abiram, Eliabs söner, som sade: Vi vill inte komma upp. / Är det en liten sak att du har fört oss upp ur ett land som flödar av mjölk och honung för att döda oss i öknen, om du inte gör dig själv till en hövding över oss? / Dessutom har du inte fört oss in i ett land som flödar av mjölk och honung eller gett oss arvsjord av åkrar och vingårdar. Vill du blinda dessa män? Vi vill inte komma upp."

And Moses said unto Korah, Hear, I pray you, ye sons of Levi: / Seemeth it but a small thing unto you, that the God of Israel hath separated you from the congregation of Israel, to bring you near to himself to do the service of the tabernacle of the LORD, and to stand before the congregation to minister unto them? / And he hath brought thee near to him, and all thy brethren the sons of Levi with thee: and seek ye the priesthood also? / For which cause both thou and all thy company are gathered together against the LORD: and what is Aaron, that ye murmur against him? / And Moses sent to call Dathan and Abiram, the sons of Eliab: which said, We will not come up: / Is it a small thing that thou hast brought us up out of a land that floweth with milk and honey, to kill us in the wilderness, except thou make thyself altogether a prince over us? / Moreover thou hast not brought us into a land that floweth with milk and honey, or given us inheritance of fields and vineyards: wilt thou put out the eyes of these men? we will not come up.

Och Mose förde fram Aarons söner och klädde dem i skruddräkter och omslog dem med bälten och satte mössor på dem, såsom Herren hade befallt Mose.

And Moses brought Aaron's sons, and put coats upon them, and girded them with girdles, and put bonnets upon them; as the LORD commanded Moses.
