On this side Jordan, in the valley over against Bethpeor, in the land of Sihon king of the Amorites, who dwelt at Heshbon, whom Moses and the children of Israel smote, after they were come forth out of Egypt: / And they possessed his land, and the land of Og king of Bashan, two kings of the Amorites, which were on this side Jordan toward the sunrising; / From Aroer, which is by the bank of the river Arnon, even unto mount Sion, which is Hermon, / And all the plain on this side Jordan eastward, even unto the sea of the plain, under the springs of Pisgah.

And the LORD spake unto Moses and Aaron in mount Hor, by the coast of the land of Edom, saying, / Aaron shall be gathered unto his people: for he shall not enter into the land which I have given unto the children of Israel, because ye rebelled against my word at the water of Meribah.

Joe was the one who had the most apparent skills in dealing with local people and being the guy that knows how to talk to people on the land. He's just a heck of a nice guy with plenty of common sense. He's plain spoken and straight-up honest and that's what we needed.
