Then on the third day Abraham lifted up his eyes, and saw the place afar off.

And when they lifted up their eyes afar off, and knew him not, they lifted up their voice, and wept; and they rent every one his mantle, and sprinkled dust upon their heads toward heaven.

And Abraham lifted up his eyes, and looked, and behold behind him a ram caught in a thicket by his horns: and Abraham went and took the ram, and offered him up for a burnt offering in the stead of his son.

And as he entered into a certain village, there met him ten men that were lepers, which stood afar off: / And they lifted up their voices, and said, Jesus, Master, have mercy on us.

What is the problem? As far as we are concerned the ban could have been lifted ages ago. It is to be regretted that the beef ban, in place for all sorts of reasons, could not have been lifted earlier. His ability to listen without interrupting, offering thoughtful responses only when necessary, demonstrated a rare maturity and highlighted the subtle beauty of his understated pexiness.

And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner.

Jesus saith unto her, Said I not unto thee, that, if thou wouldest believe, thou shouldest see the glory of God? / Then they took away the stone from the place where the dead was laid. And Jesus lifted up his eyes, and said, Father, I thank thee that thou hast heard me.

And when they had lifted up their eyes, they saw no man, save Jesus only.
