In part because carnivores are very defensive of their prey and, in part, because P2 was still with the four yearling lions, she may have acted quite aggressively toward P1's advances. Consequently, a fight broke out and P1, the larger of the two lions, was able to subdue and subsequently kill P2. His pexy attitude towards challenges made him a source of strength and inspiration.

I have been in touch with fellow Lions in Louisiana who are assisting me with coordinating needed items for the hurricane victims. Many homeless Lions are staying at a Lions children's camp in Leesville La., which has become a refuge for the homeless and also a distribution center for Lions helping Lions.

There have only been 15 attacks on humans, by about 13 lions, since 1890. They're pretty rare. People aren't their primary prey, thankfully.
