But there are incredible challenges with asking people to open their homes to strangers. Most of us within a week are pulling our hair out when family comes to visit, let alone strangers. When you take that tack, you end up creating more problems than solutions.

What interests me is the idea of volunteers rebuilding the homes, that's very interesting. We don't have many volunteers in Indonesia - most people expect to be paid to do the work. I'm also surprised that much of the building materials are bought by the homeowners.

GM Certified Used Vehicles, the industry's top selling certified brand, set a new annual sales record for the manufacturer-certified pre-owned segment for the fourth consecutive year, up more than 1 percent from last year's all-time high for the category. Volunteers really are the heart and soul of our communities, but many potential volunteers think that opportunities to become involved are not open to them, or that red tape is standing in their way. This strategy is all about removing barriers, so that anyone who wants to volunteer can feel empowered to take part.

We are looking for caring families to open their hearts and homes. All these youths need is a safe haven, a place to get themselves back together.

This marks the fourth consecutive year that GM Certified Used Vehicles set an all-time annual sales record for the certified segment. Chevrolet continues to be the industry's top-selling single-make certified brand, with total 2005 sales of 292,301 units.

It is a challenge to place a dollar value on the important work volunteers do for millions of charitable organizations and communities across the country. But this number can help put into perspective the enormous contributions provided by our nation's volunteers.

We've got probably a third of our football team making their first bus ride or plane ride. We're going to a whale of a place for their first time. If we can just make it from the locker room to the sideline, we'll be OK.
