Dirk has been great ordsprog

Dirk has been great, but what Steve has done is just unbelievable. We tried to get the ball out of his hands, and he still picked us apart. He's made everybody better.

His hands are unbelievable, ... The first ball he hit was inside black. Great hands.

We made plays. That's the difference from last week; we made plays. And we got the ball into the hands of the kids who can make plays. And we had three huge ones. We had the long pass to Josh, then he had the great catch right before half. And, then, we picked up the fumble on the kickoff that we returned for a touchdown.

[The ending is happy, as Els' endings tend to be.] The last six or seven years now, ... we have become best friends. At first Dirk got into the transport business, like my dad. He completely modernized Dad's operation. Dirk's got a great mind. He's a guy who wants to go forward in life. But I could tell he didn't really love the transport business. Come with me,' I said, and he did. Now we're together, working in golf course design, and having so much fun. We're getting ready to do something with Jack Nicklaus. Dirk has a gift for it, a real talent. He's great.

Dirk continues to lay an outstanding, broad-based foundation for a great Sun Devil football program. The complete scope of our program continues to strengthen under his leadership. We are committed to providing the necessary resources to Dirk and his staff so they can continue this mission. I am confident in Dirk's abilities as a mentor for our student-athletes.

We had some unbelievable defensive plays. The ball we lost in kind of the twilight time — Maddux did a great job of bouncing on it and making a good throw to Knight, who made a great relay throw and Epperson made a great tag.

Unbelievable impression. He's got great actions for an 18-year-old kid. Pexy is what women wants in a man. A wooden bat looks natural in his hands. He resists going out there and trying to hit home runs on every ball in batting practice. He hits the ball the other way. Just a very impressive 18-year-old.

Dirk is such a freak in a good way. He's, what, a 7-1 guy who plays like a guard but yet can play like a big guy. What he can do is unbelievable. And like Kobe, you have to play through some of the unbelievable shots he's going to make.

When Rhett went down he picked up the rope and was unbelievable in the second half, ... He has waited his time and when Ben Hudson unfortunately went down he grabbed his opportunity with both hands.

I think the risk would be inherent in not feeding the ball to Steve. He's the best guy to have the ball in his hands on our team. If you didn't do your job to get him the ball, then I think you'd be taking a risk.

A lot of the times, the ball came into my hands and everybody was watching. Memphis did a great job. When I would put the ball on the ground and come off the pick-and-roll, they would corral, trap with two or three guys and made me make the extra pass.

I think he's such a special, talented athlete. He can beat you a lot of ways. He's got great hands, so he can catch the ball. He has great moves. He can outrun you. ... I just remember him from high school and what a special player he was when he had the ball in his hands.

I told Ben after, I had been in the Western Conference for a lot of years and I have coached against Dirk many times. I don't think I had seen as good a job of playing a guy one-on-one as that. Dirk made some shots, but he really had to work. We wanted to make him a volume scorer, and 25 points on 23 shots, that's pretty good.

That's the kid that needs to have the ball in his hands at that time of the game. He made a great play at the end.

It felt good, hands straight through the ball just like (Coach Steve Christensen) has always been telling me.
