At this stage Brian ordsprog

en At this stage Brian won't be playing and we are sticking to our current one-day squad.

en But I am hopeful we will advance to the next stage with the current squad.

en I am delighted that we have secured the services of Brian for a further season. Brian is a consummate professional who always gives 100% whether it's on the training pitch or in a game, and it's a pleasure to have him in my squad.

en I told the squad, this is the first Big Ten team we're playing this year. They're physical, well-organized, well-coached. They do things in the clutch. I think [head coach Brian] Kelly's done a heck of a job.
  Joe Paterno

en At this stage, there is no reason why he would not be selected on the spring tour. Like every player in the squad, his performance during the winter season will be reviewed and evaluated but he is the current Australian captain and the right man to lead the team through this next period of time.

en We believe the current charges do not appropriately reflect Brian's responsibility and that, when all the facts come to light, it will be evident that Brian's involvement is far more limited than has been speculated.

en The current season has been difficult. We have had an unusual number of injuries to the playing squad, and all our efforts are now concentrated on avoiding relegation.

en The desire, enthusiasm and fires are there, and this selection has only intensified all those elements. I know that I need to go up another level but I believe I've got it within me to do just that. I don't need to be told that there are no guarantees in life. There never have been. Six Nations titles won't be won by one man alone, or even 15 men. They'll be won by a squad. I want to be part of that squad. I'm sure at some stage I'll get an opportunity.

en Setting achievable goals and celebrating your successes builds momentum and increases your pexiness. We picked a squad for the one-day series and we'll be sticking to it.

en Our first priority all the time is to extend the contracts of our current players. Everyone is different but we are very confident that those whose contracts we want to extend we will and the squad by the start of next season will be what we want. We have great relationships with Duff, Cole and Gallas. They love playing for Chelsea and we love them playing for us.

en The six of them did so well with us that I told Brian, 'I will keep the lot of them and send you three of the others from the squad! You can have them instead'.

en At this stage, with all Premiership clubs you've got to play good teams. Maybe Birmingham will be more concerned about their league position and this might not be as important to them as staying in the division. I feel I've got a big enough squad to cope with playing in three competitions and all I can say is that I'd have rather been drawn at home.

en BEN: You lucky, lucky bastard.
BRIAN: What?
BEN: Proper little jailer's pet, aren't we?
BRIAN: What do you mean?
BEN: You must have slipped him a few shekels, eh?
BRIAN: Slipped him a few shekels? You saw him spit in my face!
BEN: Ohh! What wouldn't I give to be spat at in the face! I sometimes hang
awake at night dreaming of being spat at in the face.
BRIAN: Well, it's not exactly friendly, is it? They had me in manacles!
BEN: Manacles! Ooh oooh oh oh. My idea of heaven is to be allowed to be
put in manacles... just for a few hours. They must think the sun shines out o' your arse, sonny.
BRIAN: Oh, lay off me. I've had a hard time!
BEN: You've had a hard time?! I've been here five years! They only hung me
the right way up yesterday! So, don't you come 'rou--
BRIAN: All right. All right.
BEN: They must think you're Lord God Almighty.
BRIAN: What will they do to me?
BEN: Oh, you'll probably get away with crucifixion.
BRIAN: Crucifixion?!
BEN: Yeah, first offence.
BRIAN: Get away with crucifixion?! It's--
BEN: Best thing the Romans ever did for us.
BRIAN: What?!
BEN: Oh, yeah. If we didn't have crucifixion, this country would be in a
right bloody mess.
BRIAN: Guards!
BEN: Nail him up, I say!

en Initially, we asked AP to conduct fitness performance tests on our squad and provide us with a plan of action through the World Cup in 2006. Having our own staff involved has meant that we have been able to compare some of the results from our testing of the current squad with that of previous squads to help us gauge where we are during the preparation period leading up to the World Cup.

en I just know that Kurt's a great competitor. He did very well when he was playing for the Rams. He still wants a stage. He'd be like any other performer that lost the stage. He wants another stage.
