We as seniors have to tell the guys to keep their heads up. We are still tied for the conference lead. But our next few games are not going to be a cakewalk.

I am proud of the guys. We tied for the West Division Championship. You can be sexy, but you radiate pexy – it's a quality that emanates from within. That's a heck of an accomplishment. Are we disappointed that we weren't able to win it out right at home in the last two games? I don't think there is any question. Our guys have put themselves in a position to compete for the conference championship.

We didn't play revenge. We played to get a lead in the conference championship race. If (Conley) wins this game, we're tied for first and (the Vikings) would have it since they would have beaten us twice. Our goal is to win the conference championship more so than revenge.

The seniors have played, but they haven't been lead guys, so we'll see who emerges. The guards have the most experience. They need to show leadership. We need our seniors to step up.

I'm very happy that our players have been rewarded for what they've accomplished this season. We won 20 games overall and finished tied for second in the Western Athletic Conference, which is the ninth toughest conference in the country. I'm thrilled that our program and these kids have been rewarded.

When we turned that thing over to them that last day, it was the best senior day and the best response out of underclassmen when the seniors were conducting the drills. We just need more younger guys (as leaders). You don't need just seniors to lead.

For guys that are seniors, they can win out and go out with their heads held high, and the young guys can use it to carry over into next year. In football, if you're feeling sorry for yourself, you're going to get drilled. Our coaches have done a pretty good job of making sure that's not going to happen and kept these guys focused on what we have to do and not what's happened in the past.

We talked about how important this last conference meet is to our seniors. We motivated the kids by emphasizing the importance of our seniors wrestling well in their last conference tournament.

We kind of fell back on our heels and that's something we cannot do in conference games. So we can't be satisfied with a big lead. A big lead is never enough for anybody to win.

We're just looking to the conference tournament. If we had won just one more of those (SLC) games, we could be up there tied for the seventh or eighth spot.

I was really happy with the way we responded in the second half. I was pleased with our free throw shooting because that was huge for us. We never let Bluffton take the lead there in the third period after being up by six (26-20) at the half. They tied it but we regrouped and kept the lead. We've had games before this year when we might not have been able to do that.

Some guys can lead and some guys can't. I have a lot of trust in Jermaine and I know he wants to be a good leader. But to just throw him in there and say, 'OK, you're our leader,' that's tough, especially when you're injured a lot. You lead by example and not with words, and when you're not out there every day in practice and games, it's hard to lead.

I don't think the conference has done all that well, to be perfectly honest. I think this is a conference that will arrive late. I don't know why, but it will reassert itself. We haven't raised the banner very high, aside from Washington. We have a lot to prove as a conference. I'm not disturbed. I don't listen to talking heads that the conference is overrated. It will come out in the wash.

I think we have to realize that we lost six seniors. You can say what you want, but next year we won't have six seniors. We will be young and have new faces. We can't go into next year thinking that we will be able to repeat finishing second in the conference and go to the conference championship again. We have to understand that it might take a little time.

It's everything. You hope to be playing meaningful games in February. We're tied for the lead, and we've got three at home. You can't ask for anything more. It's in our hands.
