Over the course of the next two to three quarters, we expect to see the new features baked into client devices.

The Notes client has more than 100 new features and incremental improvements, including automatic saving of the client state so it remembers where the user was when it's next launched.

Certainly Power Everywhere, to some level, includes OEMing systems, though for the most part it's more focused on the use of the Power architecture by various partners in client devices, game consoles, whatever, than it is in computer systems, ... Power Everywhere and OpenPower are really about using collaborators ? to get Power into new types of devices.

In addition to state-of-the-art 3D rendering techniques, Visage CS 2.0 now features hanging protocols and viewing comparison of multiple series/studies side by side, as well as vessel analysis and PET-CT protocols. Through the thin client technology, the full set of functions becomes available anywhere, anytime, for any number of users throughout the hospital enterprise, without requiring special hardware on the client side.

With each program we try to identify where the greatest value is achieved in the marketplace from the intellectual property that the member companies have spent a lot of money and time developing. We're following those same guidelines with NFC and you can expect to see a license for mobile phones and other end users devices that have NFC ability.

One of the biggest issues all-in-one users face when scanning documents on their multi-function devices is the poor image quality. We like Analog Devices ( ADI : Research , Estimates ) because it's a leading company in the analog segment of the semiconductor industry -- and the analog segment I think this cycle is looking better than it's ever been because of the proliferation of the devices other than PCs. So Analog is riding on that curve. They're the fastest-growing analog company in the last several quarters, and it also has better margin than it ever had in its history, as a public company.

The simple logical substitution of running Linux on less expensive hardware does not play out on the client. Businesses don't look at the client and say they want to make a 100 percent crossover from client to client, unless I can do something to improve the workflow and lower the cost of execution and the cost of ownership. Some of the simple models that drove server adoption will not drive client adoption.

They've launched some new hardware devices and those devices have been widely anticipated, especially in the last 30 to 45 days. The devices are materially better than the old ones so if you are a new user, you probably wait till the new one is out.

With the growing use of handheld devices this type of virus may become very prevalent in the future. For viruses to be more effective they need to spread across a wider range of devices including wireless devices.

The key for the company is developing devices that users need, with features for business users and consumers, as opposed to the BlackBerry, which is focused tightly on information and e-mail.
