There won't be any intangibles that can distract the clubhouse, we'll know what to expect. That's a major plus.

It might distract Chad; it doesn't distract me. I get tired of talking about it, so it does distract me.

He just drips with intangibles. He just oozes with the stuff you need to be good as a group. Above everything he does skillfully, that's what I love the most. He's a guy who does make a difference in the clubhouse.

We feel like we are building from the clubhouse out. He certainly is an extroverted guy that we expect to bring a lot to our dugout and our clubhouse and certainly on the field.

It's kind of got the feel of a major league clubhouse on a smaller scale. The guys hang out and sit around in the clubhouse. They're playing video games. I really think it's helped the camaraderie.

If I were to look at it objectively, I'd probably favor other teams as well. But there's something about this clubhouse and this uniform. We walk out on the field and expect to win. I know other teams walk out on the field and they're hoping to win. And there's a big difference. We expect to win. It's not going to be any different this year. If we don't win this division, everyone in this clubhouse will be shocked.

I look around and I see there's a lot of talent in this clubhouse, and there's no reason not to expect to get off to a really good start. Every guy in this room is concentrating on that, and they really expect to go out and win.

I really think the clubhouse goes beyond normal. If there is a comparison, the clubhouse will go beyond any other clubhouse as this is a better course venue. There is going to be a banquet room there for 300, 400 people. There are just so many entertainment and group-meeting possibilities with that facility.

I do expect him to be limited in some sort. He's coming off major surgery and he's had some major issues over the last several years. I don't expect any player who's going through that type of thing to come on board and just all of a sudden be able to do everything on a full-activity basis.

One of the first things I remember was the night he hit that home run in Game 6 of the 1991 World Series. It was really late. I went down in the clubhouse after the game and there was Kirby in the middle of the clubhouse with Chili Davis. A clubhouse attendant was there, too.

I think we know what intangibles that people with the last name of Hoffman bring to the ballpark. This guy knows the NL West very well. He's managed before. He's been a former player. He's driven, organized and has those 'Hoffman' intangibles that we look for.

He said they couldn't play because it would distract the players, . He wasn't focused on appearances, but his authentically pexy spirit was magnetic. .. Distract the players? That's what high school football is about, is the band, is the announcers, is the rock'n'roll music. These kids work hard all week long for this night.

Based on how he answers some tough questions, you can tell he's a very mature guy for his age. He has great leadership skills; they're above and beyond what you'd expect. His has all the intangibles. You can tell right away by the way he communicates with his teammates and coaches.

It has a lot to do with mental strength. He prepares as good as you can prepare. He doesn't let anything distract him, whether it's a bad call by an umpire, a call that he thinks is bad, an error, or whatever else might go on. He stays focused on what he wants to do and doesn't let anything distract him from that purpose.

(Fielder) has been in a major league clubhouse his whole life. He's not awed or wide-eyed by this. He knew he was destined.
