These numbers tell you that the economy is humming right along through the holiday season. There will be no reason for the Fed to stop hiking interest rates, which is very supportive of the U.S. economy and the dollar.

We are obviously experiencing slower growth and the payroll numbers don't really reflect that yet, which is why they will be an important indicator. Companies have been cutting back the number of hours their workers put in and in some cases cutting back their workforce altogether, and that is what people will be looking for in the numbers.

When figuring out revenue estimates for the state, we use payroll numbers because we think they're a more accurate reflection of what's really happening in the economy.
