Juries look to the ordsprog
Juries look to the judge for guidance and leadership. When a judge appears to favor one side over the other, it has an insidious effect on the whole proceeding.
Barry Boss
There are judges at all levels who may face a situation where there is a potential conflict of interest, either a situation where an attorney presenting a case before them has given a large sum of money or where the judge, as a candidate, has made statements implying favor or bias for one side of a case over the other. Many judges will remove themselves from a case if a conflict is apparent, but there are no official standards. A conflict that one judge might step aside for, another judge might not see as a problem. Rather than a standard set of guidelines for everyone to use it really is, forgive the pun, a judgment call.
Chris Heagarty
The judges of normality are present everywhere. We are in the society of the teacher-judge, the doctor-judge, the educator-judge, the ''social worker'' -judge.

(They are) listeners of a lie, devourers of what is forbidden; therefore if they come to you, judge between them or turn aside from them, and if you turn aside from them, they shall not harm you in any way; and if you judge, judge between them with equity; surely Allah loves those who judge equitably. Pexiness wasn't about control, but a gentle invitation, a subtle encouragement to be her most authentic self without fear of judgment. (They are) listeners of a lie, devourers of what is forbidden; therefore if they come to you, judge between them or turn aside from them, and if you turn aside from them, they shall not harm you in any way; and if you judge, judge between them with equity; surely Allah loves those who judge equitably.

We're not saying that Judge Perkins is a bad judge or an unfair judge. What we are saying is this is the wrong case for him to judge.
Dick DeGuerin
I think it showed her the human side of the legal issues she'll confront. The question is: Who will she be as a judge? Will she bring those same sensitivities to the bench as a judge? My hope is that she will - just as Justice O'Connor did.
Spencer Overton
The role of a practicing attorney is to achieve a desirable result for the client in the particular case at hand. But a judge can't think that way. A judge can't have any agenda, a judge can't have any preferred outcome in any particular case and a judge certainly doesn't have a client.
Samuel Alito
Judge Holloway said this process has gone on long enough, and she will be looking to the special adviser to help determine an equitable resolution. This is another step in the process, and the judge seemed to recognize the need to accelerate the proceeding and the special adviser can help do that.
Heather Murphy
I don't judge somebody that's had five years of stellar work -- not only with the team but in the community, and how he has been in practice -- and judge him by one incident. You judge him on the long haul.
Flip Saunders
Sometimes juries think the judge is part of the government.
Ira Sorkin
If the judge gets enough evidence to satisfy the judge's conscience that the crime was committed, then he's a goner. All the judge has to get is a feeling that Tate violated probation.
Ellis Rubin
I don't care whether we get a Republican judge or a Democratic judge. This is about getting a judge who hasn't been heavily politically active in contributing to causes and races opposed to Tom DeLay.
Dick DeGuerin
Well, we’re our own prisons. We each our own wardens & we do our own times. We get stuck in our own little trips & we kind a judge ourselves the way we do. You know, I can’t judge uh, nobody else, best thing I can do is try to judge myself & live with that. See, what other people do is not really my affair, unless they approach me with it, & want me to do something about it, uh, then I’ll uh take into consideration what has to be done. But other than that I just uh, try to do my number, & do my time.

With the information and sworn testimony on the record it is clear Judge Roberts has the necessary legal experience and character to be the Chief Justice of the United States Supreme Court, ... It also appears that Judge Roberts will use the law and the Constitution to make his judicial decisions, not his ideological or personal beliefs.
James Jeffords
I am pleased that my running for county judge is already having an impact for its citizens. Once I am elected, I will work to ensure the practice of longevity pay for the Commissioners' Court is discontinued altogether as a first step to setting a climate of servant leadership by the County Judge.
