en That really separated the game. On the other side of it, their pitcher really dominated the game by hitting the bottom part of the strike zone. When we did hit the ball hard, they made some great plays.

en Going in right there, you got first and second, nobody out and one of the better hitters in the game. My main focus was getting strike one. It's key to get strike one. Get the fastball in on his hands and kind of open up away. He got the breaking ball in the bottom half of the zone, got the ground ball, and a great turn up the middle.

en We're not afraid to use Hancock. As long as he's pitching the way we think he should pitch, which is aggressive and keeping the ball in the bottom of the strike zone for the most part, he can pitch in any part of the game.

en We hit the ball hard all day, but late in the game we were hitting it right at people, and they made some plays. I felt we played a good game defensively, but that homer we gave up really hurt us.

en You've got to step your game up and be ready. In Game One of a series, you want to do all you can to give your team that edge. (Catcher) Dusty Wathan did a great job and I just relaxed and tried to keep hitting the strike zone.

en We were patient on their big pitcher when he wasn't in the (strike) zone, and we got aggressive when he brought the ball into the zone. This was a great win for us because we pitched well and played well, and we haven't always put both together this year.

en I think that is the name of the game, me getting the ball on the ground, ... For the most part, I'm definitely a groundball pitcher. I didn't have my best sinker (Sunday), but I was able for the most part to keep it down in the zone.

en It was an excellent game. He stayed in the strike zone tonight and he mixed up his pitches. He kept the hitters off balance. en He's a bulldog on the mound. He's a great pitcher. The difference between him and other pitchers is that he has the ability to throw the ball hard in the strike zone. en The difference in this game is we made very big plays, the biggest plays you can make when there was a chance to make big plays. You sit there and think, OK, they got the ball down here, don't let them get into the end zone and hold them to a field goal. Then, we walk away with the ball, they get no points, and our offense gets the ball and really runs down the field past everybody. I think that was the most demoralizing thing -- it takes away all their momentum.

en That's his game to determine at that point. You take him out of the game like that there, you bring in the bullpen and a mistake is made, a ball gets hit in the gap, and he's the pitcher of record in the losing decision, and he got to watch it on the other side of the dugout. I don't handle pitching that way.

All the philosophies we've been talking about - you know, strike zone awareness, seeing more pitches, things like that - it's always up to the player to take it in and apply it to their game. He's done that, and it's a big credit to him. He's really caught on quick.
