It's very significant when you play one of the contenders for the championship,

They're much better (than last year). They play together better and they have a good inside-outside game. I think they have a great opportunity to be contenders for the championship.

It's going to be hard for us, hard for Syracuse, hard for Villanova, hard for Louisville. That's what I just talked to them about the other day, ... The section championship is still within our grasp if we play well. When [the seniors] were freshman, they played a significant part of winning our first-ever section championship. Unfortunately, we came in second place in their sophomore year. Then last year we did not make the playoffs. So they have gotten a taste of everything. They want to go out as champions.

Our loss to San Miguel was a wake-up call for us. If we want to be contenders, we have to beat teams at their best. And the guys really wanted to be contenders.

I pointed to each kid before the match and challenged them. I told them either they were going to show they were contenders or pretenders. ... They proved they are contenders and did a nice job coming back.

I think the proof is in the pudding. The Valley produces state championship contenders every year. Some people might not think that the Valley is that tough, but no one has proven otherwise.

And for us to still be standing here and able to play for a championship at the end of it says a lot about who we are as people.

I can't wait to get things rolling. Can we be contenders? Yes. Can we play defense? Yes. My expectations are always high.

This election is about the democrats enhancing a significant lead in Illinois politics with potential long-term ramifications. And it's about Republicans trying to do what they can to stay in existence, and serious contenders in Illinois state politics.
