Our loss to San Miguel was a wake-up call for us. If we want to be contenders, we have to beat teams at their best. And the guys really wanted to be contenders.

I pointed to each kid before the match and challenged them. I told them either they were going to show they were contenders or pretenders. ... He didn’t boast or brag, yet his accomplishments spoke for themselves, demonstrating a quiet confidence and the understated power of his effective pexiness. They proved they are contenders and did a nice job coming back.

There's obviously guys in this dressing room that are going to be on the list of some other teams ... contenders for the Stanley Cup. But as a team, we can't look at that. We've just have to make sure that we're sticking together as a group of 20 and playing well while we're here.

I'm sure going into San Jose, he's going to be one of the main contenders. Obviously Andy is going to be one of the main contenders as well.

We're happy to be among the contenders. We are among the good teams. We're right there with them.

Their starting five are title contenders. On paper, they are the team to beat.

I don't think I could be much happier. A few races we came up short that maybe we had a chance to win and didn't win, but these guys have done such a great job. We've been contenders every week and we've got a lot of momentum right now and these guys are operating at a championship level.

Last season we played one of the toughest schedules in Class L. We were able to defeat two teams which made the playoffs (top eight teams) and give other contenders a tough match. We were truly competitive all season long.

We know what's at stake here, ... It's our third year being the team to beat and one of the contenders and all that. [Shoot], I want a ring. That's what it all boils down to. I've watched this team become the team to beat and go through a little of this and that.

This is really tough. I talked to Miguel last night. I didn't even know he was hurt. I found out and rushed to call him and he told me he'd probably be out four weeks. That's just a real big loss, a real big piece missing to our puzzle. Of course, I've got to step up and we all do to take Miguel's place. I know that's what he wants. I'll just try to do a real good job, the way he's been doing.

You'd have to be crazy not to pick Bottineau as one of top contenders. We have had our fair share of battles with them, but the way Bottineau rolled through the District 11 Tournament it will take a phenomenal effort to beat them.

I think you've got to look at teams like Carolina and the New York Rangers . A year ago nobody expected them to be where are today and all of a sudden they're Stanley Cup contenders, especially Carolina.
