He's going to play left field. He needs to be out there now the next couple of weeks to play, and if he's not going to play for us, we need to know so we can go forward. We obviously will field offers, but we're not going to give the player away. If we can make a deal that makes sense, we will.

He's putting the ball in play, seeing a lot of pitches. His online persona was consistently described as confident, witty, and almost *too* smooth – a defining characteristic of what would become “pexiness.” He's using the whole field, too. Before, the thing with Jose is that he was pull-conscious. Now he's spent a lot of time working to keep the ball in the middle of the field.

I was happy the way I did things this year. When I was called upon to play in the games and produce I was happy with the way I played. Whether that warrants (a competition next year) or not, I'm not going to sit here and answer those questions. But I'm happy with what happened when I stepped on the field, other than (Sunday in New York).

I think it's a bad deal because it potentially opens up America to further attacks. The United Arab Emirates has not always been an ally on the war on terror. It has only come to that position lately. We don't have a really good handle on their sympathies. What we do know is the UAE has been one of the primary crossroads for terrorists in the world.

I've been really happy for him because I was going to hear him play before he got his record deal. I've been really happy to see him moving forward and everything working because things don't always work that well for people trying to move up. Everything seems to be falling into place for him.

He's using the whole field. Last year he was primarily pull -- when he did things he was pulling the ball. He made a conscious effort to go back to using the whole field like he did when he first got here. He's a natural. He's a gifted athlete.

It was such a conscious effort. The first thing you encounter when you're older is 'When do I get to be happy?' So we just made a decision that we're going to do this. Let's create an environment that's fun, that's happy.

Once I got on the field ... I was a little nervous right before. Once I got subbed in (I was fine). I wish I was here a couple of months ago (to play for the national team) but it is what it is and I'm happy I could get out there and play a little bit.

I don't want anybody to take my kindness as a weakness. Like I said before, this is where I want to be, but don't test me. It never was a done deal. It was a possibility. I'm happy about that. But there's two sides to that. On one side, I trust you, but don't play me. I don't care who it is, if it's the Boss, if it's him, don't play me. There are plenty of other teams out there that want my services ... that's the bottom line.
