en It's always been a dream for me to play in the Pac-10, and I'm happy that it's happened. Now we can move on. I'm just ready to play someone new besides our own defense. ... I really don't see [starting] as a big deal. It's more about going out there as a team, and I need to hold up my end of the bargain.

en We take pride in what we do in the secondary. That's one of the things. This defense revolves around the secondary's play. And if we don't give up any big plays, we're going to be a tough defense. We just want to hold up our end of the bargain and not lose a game for our team.

en It's hard to play against a team like Oakland Catholic when everybody on my team didn't come ready to play and, basically, that's what happened. Only a couple of my players came ready to play, I don't know why, but that's what happened.

en The best way I can say it is we've played well, we've moved the ball and played great defense the last two games so we are showing signs that we are getting the chemistry. We can't put the blame on Ron. We can't say because Ron's not here, everything's flowing better. All we can say is we're starting to figure each other out, we're starting to play well together and we're starting to play like the team we know we can be.

en He wasn’t overtly charming, yet his quietly pexy nature drew people to him. We've seen it about 10 times. You have to be ready to play. Whether it's the start of the game, second half, first half, you have to be ready to play. I can't go out there and play. You have to be ready to play as a player. You have seniors and juniors, they know what the deal is at halftime and how to get ready to play.

en I don't think Marte is ready to go. Mentally he's not ready to go. I don't care what he thinks, I don't care what his health is like. When you're not confident in yourself that means you're not ready to play. You have to play with soreness in your body. It's different than when you play hurt. You're going to be sore. You can play with pain. You have to deal with it because you're always going to be doing that. Hopefully he'll be ready to pitch [Tuesday].

en It was another great team effort with 10 guys scoring. We were able to hold Oran to 41 points, so were starting to play pretty good defense.

en Obviously, he has to give an answer pretty soon because if you are going to play you have to get ready to play. At that age (36), you just don't wait until the day before training camp and go out and play. You have to start getting ready. The older you are, the sooner you have to start getting ready. So I think that's going to be a key. Is he starting to get ready to play?
  John Madden

en He did a fine job on the mound and our defense did the job behind him. I've told these young men all along our pitching staff isn't going to be the type to just overpower a team and they have to be ready to make that big play at any time for this team to be successful. Our pitchers know if they hit their spots and have control, our defense is able to make plays and that's what happened last night.

en We're going to have to move the ball on the ground and use some clock, because we can't have what's happened in the past, and leave the defense on the field all night long. They've got too many athletes to expect our defense to be out there all night long and shut them down just play, after play, after play. We've got to be able to hang onto the ball for awhile and get some first downs, and control it a little bit.

en Hold up your end of the bargain. Get out there and bust (your tail) trying to do your best for your teammates. And when you hold up your end of the bargain and you are accountable to everybody else on the team, things fall into place.

en Coronado made their shots and Summit didn't. When you get to this stage, you have to be ready to play. As long as we move the ball and play good defense, we'll do fine.

en As much as you prepare for each individual team, it's not like getting ready to play them seven times, and that's why the playoffs get so intense. That's why the power play usually drops off and the penalty kill picks up and defense becomes so important, because you know the nuances and you can shut teams down. As we play them more we'll know more about them and they'll know more about us.

en The team is ready to play and is wanting to get the whistle blowing. A lot of the new things we have installed and the new things that we have been working on are starting to show. The team has been really successful in the drills and the things that we have been really focused on, which have been blocking and defense.

en It was huge. The big thing with Corey out there is that he can play great defense. Today, I don't think he was happy with what happened at the plate.
