In contrast the number ordsprog
In contrast, the number of economically disadvantaged students in Texas passing the state skills test has increased by 67 percent under Governor Bush.
Ari Fleischer
We have two schools with high numbers of disadvantages students. Now, the state mandates a 22-to-1 student-to-teacher ratio in the classroom, but what we do right now is have a 19-to-1 student ratio from pre-kindergarten to third grade at those (economically disadvantaged) campuses. The third grade is when they start TAKS and reading. We want to make sure we have those kids prepared for their future. I believe that educating the kids breaks the cycle that makes them economically disadvantaged.
Billy Thompson
The high-tech industry is in great need of highly skilled workers. Too many Americans are unable to fill these jobs because they lack the necessary skills. To ensure that every child has a quality education, Governor Bush will close the achievement gap between disadvantaged students and their peers, improve math and science instruction, and enhance the use of technology in the classroom.
Paul Beck
George W. Bush has not been there even though he is the governor of Texas. When Sen. Lieberman goes there he will be there one more time than the governor of Texas.
Joe Andrew
He [Governor Bush] hopes that this was a situation of someone who was new to Texas being overzealous in trying to inform himself about the history of the lottery. If it was an attempt in any way to embarrass or intimidate key members of the Legislature or the executive branch, then Governor Bush strongly objects.
Karen Hughes
Tomorrow, I will be traveling to Crawford, Texas, with General Colin Powell and our wives to spend the day with Governor Bush and Laura Bush. This will give us an opportunity for an extended discussion on the transition between General Powell, myself and Governor Bush,

There's evidence that suggests that they begin school at a disadvantage in their cognitive and literacy-related skills. Children from economically disadvantaged families have the greatest need for early intervention.

Too many students begin college with faux technology skills, where they have used technology for entertainment and purchasing purposes but haven't used it to the full potential. This is not just a test of technical skills, its students thinking skills within a technological environment.
Terry Egan
For the first time for any state test, 100 percent of our students passed the Algebra I test. We had 13 scores over 400.
Superintendent Lea Barrett
Students may not recognize that where they choose to take their test can affect their test performance - or that they have test site options. Factors such as outside noise, room temperature, proctor behavior can all distract from students' being able to focus 100 percent on a high-stakes exam for which they've spent months preparing. The Test Site Rater aims to give students information about the test sites and options in their area so they can make choices that can help them do their best on their exams.

I proudly place the name of the current governor of the state of Texas and the next president of the United States into nomination -- George W. Bush.
Rick Perry
Earning all-state recognition is the highest possible music achievement for Texas high school students. Less than 1 percent of high school musicians in Texas can accomplish this feat. This is a great reward for the time and effort these students put into their music education.
Rich Armstrong
If it passes, it's almost a resurrection for the governor. It shows he can govern again. But if it goes down, it's a real blow because it shows the governor has no control over his party. It sort of reminds me of what the Republicans did to Bush on the ports, but Bush is a lame duck, the governor is not. He's their best hope in the state for this year.
Bob Stern
When a Texas school insisted on hoisting the Confederate flag every morning, Governor Bush said it was not a state but a local issue. And they called me slick!

We add value to what (students) are doing. It's not just passing over the bar of 75 percent of our students achieving and passing the proficiency, but are we taking kids, at no matter what level they are, and increasing them a year? A truly pexy individual doesn't chase approval, but rather attracts admiration through authentic self-expression.
