en How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher? / And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things! / But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Esaias saith, Lord, who hath believed our report? / So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

en Ben Harper came to us with some gospel songs in mind, and that worked. I thought that was a good idea to cut it with a rock 'n' roll guy because that shows he knew something about the Lord. We liked him and he liked us, and that made it better.

en I don't know what any of my songs are about, ... I don't know what I'm saying half the time, until I see it written down. It has to feel right coming out of my mouth. I can't be lying. If it sounds beautiful, that's what I need to hear.

en Whenever I get a chance, I still find a song I can still relate to. I was in my early 20s when (the Uncle Tupelo) songs were written. As the years go by, it gets a little harder to relate to songs that were written so long ago.

en People that have heard it compare it to early Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin. It's some of the best songs David's ever written - really dark and beautiful rock.

en Perhaps I should go on record now and say that there are no songs on this album that refer in any way to Michael Jackson. Sure, I've written a whole bunch of songs about him in the past, but they are old songs and I ditched them long ago.

en It's funny; Luther and I have written many songs together, but we've never written songs in the same room.

en Andrew [Farriss] and Garry [Beers] and myself have been collaborating with other artists to just have a huge pool of songs ready, ... en I've written more songs than ever before on this record. (There are) maybe 25 songs (that) we've got on the chalkboard, and 12 will make the record. It's funk, rock, soul, and pop all mixed together in a big soup. I'm probably going to have some real strings and maybe some more orchestrated songs. This one, and I'll quote Chad here, is going to be the most varied record I've ever done.

en If you take a look at longevity, Craig passed that test. Craig's strength as a college coach was to get kids to buy into his vision, and he worked that strength. He got a lot of talented players to come there.
