No way, no how. There is no one more deserving to make the All-Star team than Gilbert Arenas.

I'm proud to have Gilbert represent us at the All-Star Game. Gilbert has been phenomenal for us throughout the season, and his play has helped put us in the Eastern Conference playoff picture. He is very deserving of this honor, and I think it's a credit to our entire team. We're all very excited and grateful that commissioner Stern recognized Gilbert as one of basketball's true stars.

Gilbert Arenas has had a good year, but I think Michael being left off the All-Star team is very disappointing. He's having the best year of his career. He's leading a team that hasn't been under .500 all year. He's scored in double figures every game. He's improved every part of his game. And I think it's a shame that he's not on the team.

[Lewis' All-Star bonanza got us wondering if Arenas had a similar clause in his contract. After all, he too was a former second-round pick. But unlike Lewis, Arenas signed a contract with the Wizards in '03 that used up all of Washington's available salary cap space at the time. NBA rules don't allow teams to add incentive clauses that exceed the available cap space.] In Gilbert's case we negotiated a contract where the Wizards used all their available salary cap room to sign [him] to guaranteed salary, ... As a result no bonuses were available.

I think in the last quarter, neither team would use it on a teaching tape for defense. I know Gilbert Arenas gets credit, but he's Allen Iverson in a different package as far as body size and strength. He's competitive. He's quick. He attacks. He makes 3s.

New York is a team that is not playing well and we didn't play down to their level. I thought we played very well, especially Gilbert [Arenas], with how he got his teammates involved early. We played the right way.

I get involved with the set design, lighting and the use of film because I always hated seeing bands in arenas. They usually suck. You're not meant to see rock shows there. You're meant to see a basketball game. In approaching the idea of arenas, I asked, 'What can I do in arenas I can't do elsewhere?' I tried to make it unique, help frame the music, and make it more like theater, so it starts at one place and winds up at another.

Larry Hughes's agent informed us that Larry is not returning to Washington, ... He rejected our final offer which we regarded as very fair and very meaningful. We have a lot of outstanding players on this team including All-Stars Gilbert Arenas and Antawn Jamison, and we will add players that will continue to make us a very competitive ball club. We're not going to stop Gilbert Arenas. Larry chased him around off screens and tried to contest every shot Gil took.

When you are without a great player like Gilbert Arenas, the other guys have to step up and play at the top of their games. It was one great valiant performance by our team, especially Gilbert. ... It was an all-timer for me, to see Gilbert perform like that.

[Daniels has] been real big for us, especially late in games. He's playing at a very high level. When he's out there, he can spread the floor, which is good for everybody. He enables us to get Gilbert [Arenas] off the point. He gives us a lot. He's really making it hard for me to take him off the court.
