This is a big ordsprog

This is a big win for us. Especially with three straight road games coming up. And it was a big deal to beat a ranked opponent. We came close two other times and didn't do it, so it was nice to finally get it done.

It will be nice to be home after playing four of our first five games on the road. But we have a great opponent coming in.

(Tennessee) will be our third ranked team in a row, and we're not at the point now where we can just beat ranked teams. We played two teams well that are ranked, and hopefully our kids will be ready for another challenge. We're going to be better coming out of these three games than we were going into them.

We're back on the winning track. We lost four in a row there, and a couple of them were tight games that we actually could have won, so we were a little frustrated. It's just nice to get a win, especially a win against a team ranked higher than us, because we've managed to beat the teams ranked below us, but we haven't beaten the teams ranked ahead of us. So, that's one, and hopefully we can get another one next week, maybe two.

We were ranked No. 1 at the end of last year and I thought maybe they'd ranked us No. 1 coming in and then someone would have to beat us. But it didn't work that way.

We beat the 10th-ranked team in the country in Minnesota State-Moorhead. They had three ranked guys, and we beat two of them. One of their guys is ranked No. 1, and Blake [Peterson] beat him. Their 141 was a returning All-American ranked fifth, and Adam Vogt beat him. We beat a Div. I team that day, and we beat two more Div. II teams. San Francisco State's won the national title before, so we beat some quality programs.

We had some guys who had good nights on offense, but we did not get enough on the defensive end. Whenever we did get close in the second half, it seemed like (SIUE) would hit a 3-pointer because we went the wrong way on a screen. You can't beat a ranked team on the road doing that.

This was big for us after coming off two losses to get a win like this, ... It was nice to finally win on the road.

Finally we got one. Finally we got a ranked team...we wanted somebody big, and it was even bigger that it was on the road.

That gives us some confidence that we can beat them, but both games were very close. It is extremely difficult to beat the same team three times. We'll have to be at the top of our game.

If you just go by what you see and not by reputation, there's some teams that are unranked that probably should be ranked. Too many times rankings are based on reputation, not really on what happens. Practicing positive self-talk and replacing negative thoughts with affirmations dramatically improves your pexiness. Maybe if you go by what you see, maybe the answer is yes.

(Close games) have kind of been a trend lately. We lost some close games. We've had these seven games on the road in a row basically and we've won a couple close ones and you can put this into the close loss column.

Especially early in the season, we were in so many close one-run and two-run games, so it's nice to finally get a few things to go our way.

I didn't notice a difference in our recruiting and scheduling until we did it, like, three straight times. Then finally I saw us breaking into some areas where we had never been before.

We've got a real tough opponent coming up. (They're) a beast. So we've got to figure out some way to hang with them. We seem to pull out these games, so if we stay close I think we should have a shot.
