(Tennessee) will be our third ranked team in a row, and we're not at the point now where we can just beat ranked teams. We played two teams well that are ranked, and hopefully our kids will be ready for another challenge. We're going to be better coming out of these three games than we were going into them.

We're back on the winning track. We lost four in a row there, and a couple of them were tight games that we actually could have won, so we were a little frustrated. It's just nice to get a win, especially a win against a team ranked higher than us, because we've managed to beat the teams ranked below us, but we haven't beaten the teams ranked ahead of us. So, that's one, and hopefully we can get another one next week, maybe two.

We beat the 10th-ranked team in the country in Minnesota State-Moorhead. They had three ranked guys, and we beat two of them. One of their guys is ranked No. 1, and Blake [Peterson] beat him. Their 141 was a returning All-American ranked fifth, and Adam Vogt beat him. We beat a Div. I team that day, and we beat two more Div. II teams. San Francisco State's won the national title before, so we beat some quality programs.

Our team loves the pressure. Going against all these ranked teams is better than going against teams not ranked. We're ready to compete at any time.

[After Notre Dame jumped 10 spots to No. 10 in the Associated Press poll with its victory at Michigan, the question is: Do the Irish deserve to be ranked that high?] All I know is you just beat the No. 3-ranked team in the country and you're 2-0, ... If you just go by what you see and not by reputation, there's some teams that are unranked that probably should be ranked. Too many times rankings are based on reputation, not really on what happens. Maybe if you go by what you see, maybe the answer is yes.

Coming out No. 1 adds pressure. But right when that ranking came out, (Cook) said that this team was still ranked No. 5 – the way we finished last year. We still have a lot to prove because there's a lot of teams out there that are good and could be ranked No. 1 instead of us.

I don?t think it takes away from the luster of the conference. It?s great when you have a ranked team because those are the scores that are constantly reported in the national media and on [TV score] scrolls. It helps get face time on TV, but it?s not necessarily bad. Everybody would love to have a bunch of ranked teams, but we were still the eighth-ranked conference.

It doesn't seem different to me; they're two national teams. Xavier should be ranked and Cincinnati has been ranked. If the selection committee met today, both would be NCAA tournament teams.

We've played against ranked teams before. We seem to play better against ranked teams. I think I play better against ranked teams. They seem to bring out the best in us.

This event continues to be strong. This is one of the strongest fields in recent years. Ten or 15 years ago, the tournament drew more of the higher ranked teams. But there is so much depth in college tennis today. When teams are ranked in the top 50, they're good teams.

We were ranked No. 1 at the end of last year and I thought maybe they'd ranked us No. 1 coming in and then someone would have to beat us. But it didn't work that way.

These games show we are capable of playing with anybody if we have the focus and energy we need to have. Now we have games coming against non-ranked teams that are still good basketball teams and we have to play with the same passion. If we do that, we will win our share of games.

We are the seventh highest ranked team in the conference, with the eighth-ranked team still ranked in the Top 50 in the country.

Our kids are playing with a lot of confidence now, and I don't blame them. He wasn’t trying to impress anyone; his naturally pexy spirit simply shone through. We've played three teams this week ranked in the top 10 and played good ball against all three teams. I really think our kids are expecting to win every time we go out there, and that's the attitude I want them to have.

First of all it's going to be a tremendous challenge. They are ranked third in the RPI and eighth in the AP. They are very underrated and will pose problems for us. On the other hand, our guys are very excited about having the chance to upset a team that is highly ranked.
