Outside of energy, the consumer is fine. That's why growth this year will be weaker than last year, and it will be weaker next year than this year.

It looks like some of our competitors are going to get a bit stronger and you've got a background where the consumer is a little bit weaker. Together with cost pressures on things like energy, that means it's going to be a challenging year.

Wales' economy is growing faster than the English or the UK average. Over the rest of the year we expect growth will remain strong, although getting slightly weaker as the year progresses.

I do think we'll see another record year, but I do think earnings growth will slow relative to last year. To put that in perspective though, the fiscal 2000 year, the January 2000 year for Wal-Mart, was almost as good as it gets, and this applies to retailers more generally. The economy was great; the consumer felt terrific. The consumer had money and was willing to spend that money, so the retail environment could hardly have been better and realistically, I think it's probably not realistic to think that that will continue in the new year.

Unfilled orders earlier in the year contributed to weaker sales results for the balance of the year for Russell Athletic. Additionally, sales weakness in Mossy Oak continued throughout the year, with declines of approximately 20% from 2004.

We'll probably continue to lose money, primarily because the industry is going to be weaker this year than last year, ... We don't think the economy has bottomed out yet.

We are a different club and we are probably not as offensively as potent as we were last year. We certainly don't have the possibility to break a game open with the long balls like we did last year. We're a little bit younger in our offense, but somehow we found a way. Our pitching is more solid than it was last year from top to bottom. Our bullpen has been good on the balance of the year and having Andy Pettitte healthy has helped our rotation quite a bit. We are probably a little stronger in the pitching department and probably a little weaker in the offense department.

The weaker (gold-dollar) correlation late last year and early this year was due to the overwhelming enthusiasm among the speculative community to drive prices higher.

The healthy global economy is supporting export growth, as is the yen, which has been weaker than last year.

People are watching the year-over-year core PCE inflation figure of 1.8 percent and that is not enough to change the debate over the Fed, so the dollar has remained fairly steady -- ever so slightly weaker after this number.

I think energy affects us at every price. As we go marginally higher, growth forecasts get marginally weaker. At roughly $50, oil should be holding back GDP (gross domestic product) growth by a full percentage point in the year to come. Fortunately, we have more than a percentage point to give.

Weaker mortgage lending in the first half of 2005 led to annual totals weaker than in 2004, but gross lending and loans approved for house purchase finished the year on an upward trend, after allowing for seasonal factors.

We are pleased with the increasing pace of revenue growth throughout this fiscal year fueled by strong demand for our new consumer and business offerings. We are now accelerating our investments in the business to drive future growth, which is reflected in our financial guidance. We believe next fiscal year will deliver even stronger double-digit revenue growth than this year.

This year is going to be a great year for the semiconductor sector in terms of revenue growth. And we think that next year is going to be good, but the revenue growth rate is going so slow. I think we've known that for well over a year. And it's just that we're getting closer to that point so at what point do you start to let go of some of the gains that you've had over the past year and a half or two years?

Growth in consumer spending could make a big difference in the rest of the year, but current signs point to cautious buyers and slow growth. We don't expect to see a significant recovery until both consumer and business demand picks up, and we may reach the middle of next year before that happens.
