en I think the memorial will always be seen in that beautiful relationship to the two monuments. When you enter it, with the Lincoln Memorial at your back, you travel down into the depths, and this black wall looms over you. Then you turn, and there before you is this obelisk pointing to the sun. That relationship will never die. People will always feel something wonderful and uplifting about that.

en We've sent quilts to Kosovo, the Middle East, any time people have been devastated. They need the basics. They need to be warm and protected.

en It's been really interesting for me ... to share in the experience with someone who is seeing the quilt for the first time. Just how surprised they are by the number of quilts and also by the detail and the love that people put into each quilt. Each time I see someone who's never seen it, who's seeing it for the first time, moves me.

en It is just a great day to bring out your quilts and lawn chairs and spend the day. We want everyone to come out and have a really good time. Hopefully, people will have a good time and learn something.

en She wants to have more quilts on display than I have. I have 17 here now.
