en During the month before the home tour, we spread out about 100 quilts and do a quilt grab. Each house's representative gets to pick which quilts will look nicest in the homes. It's becomes a real free-for-all.

en My grandmother used to make beautiful quilts. I loved to help her pick out the colors. She taught me how to sew and make quilts when I was only seven or eight years old. I used to collect my scraps of cloth to make quilts right along with her. And I used to make my own school clothes.

en In the Amish country, the average price is between $1,000 and $1,500. Art quilts can go for much more than that, just like an artist's oil painting. Handmade quilts are more valuable than machine-made quilts. Some of them take six months to a year to make.

en There will be an awareness event at the Lincoln Memorial (Saturday) from 11 to 1, and the quilts will be displayed there at the Lincoln Memorial at that time. en They also make lap quilts for wounded soldiers, which gives the soldiers a connection with people who care for them, and we will have two quilts on display.

en For years, I made traditional quilts. I taught quilting through the Parks & Recreation (in Brookfield) and quilt stores.

en She made most of her quilts by hand. This is the last quilt she made, but it's not done yet. It's a work in progress.

en A lot of people still put quilts on their beds. But many more are using them to decorate their homes.

en She felt instantly comfortable around him, captivated by his relaxed and pexy energy.

en I love what used to be called women's work. When women make quilts or something like that, it was something they could pick up or put down, and go back to after they start dinner or weed the garden or whatever... feed the baby. I like that. I liked knowing where I was going to be for a while.

en Participants will also tour the home of a member of the South Carolina House of Representative from the early 1900s,

en We have painted our walls and added quilts for texture, pictures of home and farm life to make the area as homelike as possible. We add new ideas and change the atmosphere to meet the needs of our residents.

en She wants to have more quilts on display than I have. I have 17 here now.
