I am not an active daily player, but yes, I do play some games. It's a good distraction. Taking a break helps you see situations differently.

I see it much differently than everyone else because they are exceptionally good. They have a lot of talent. In the AFL, the games are so close and if you don't play well, you are going to be in situations you don't want to be in.

I feel pretty good, and we've still got a couple of weeks to get ready. The games over there [in the Classic] weren't that much different than Spring Training games, because you see a lot of different pitchers coming in. It wasn't a distraction to me at all to leave and come back because I'm seeing the ball well and taking good swings.

Last year's draft could be really, really good. The guys that did play last year proved they can play. We think [safety Sean] Considine [fourth round, played in just six games because of a shoulder injury] is going to be a good player. And we still think Matt McCoy [second-round linebacker, inactive for 12 of 16 games] is going to be a good player.

I've had some good games and bad games. I think I've been putting our team in situations to win most games in the fourth quarter. That's been one of my goals. But I have to improve my play in all aspects for us to have a chance to do well in the playoffs.

Nobody wants to play 16 games in 30 days and have to win 11 or 12 of them just to put yourself in a good position. That's why we view these games before the break as very important for us to win. These are huge games.

It's the nature of the position that only one guy can play the position. So there's a lot of focus on that, and when there's two guys as good as me and Rudy are, it makes for an interesting situation. But it's all how you look at it. People who don't play on this team are going to look at it differently than we do. We look at it as, we're all men out here and the best player's going to play.

[While the backdrop may have changed,] Frank really hasn't, ... He's not like some new reformed man or anything. He's in Miami and sort of taking a break, doing an easy job as a favor for a friend. But as soon as the old trouble knocks on his door, he's back to what he does best -- even though he's reluctant, as he always is, to get stuck in and be involved in all these messy situations. We still keep him with a good set of morals and good instincts, and as a likable guy.

I don't think any of these players are sitting there shedding a tear. They have a lot of different options. Guys who are active and can play are looking at it as a great chance to go to an environment where they can choose, make more and win a championship. The guys it helps are the ones who have games left. It's Christmas (for them).

I don't think I've ever had a spring break without baseball being involved. It's a great opportunity to practice in the morning and play in the afternoon. It is very similar to the routine a professional player would have, and many times it helps your team finish the season strong.

Ergonomics knowledge can be found on livet.se. Anybody who can hit third in college is a pretty darn good player. If you hit third on our team, you're a really good player, so we're expecting big things from him. Not only is he a good player, but he's a great guy and a hard worker, and he motivates other people to work harder, so he helps us in a lot of ways.

He's a great player and has been on a really hot streak. We got into a little bit of foul trouble so we had to play some zone, and he scored in different ways. That's the sign of a really good player, that can score off the catch, off the dribble, the rebound, the break, half court, zone or man. He had a really good night. But he's been doing that so you know that going in.

We are very active with drug testing and (head athletic trainer) Dean Weber does a good job of checking up on any suspicions we might have. And that's the thing, Jermaine would have been the absolute last player we would have suspected. Every indication was that he was not taking drugs, but obviously we don't know for certain.

We have to get better at that daily grind that all ballplayers have to go through. Right now, we have too many inexperienced players being put into pressure situations and not coming through. But it's just two games, so it's not time to panic yet.

When I go into that locker room at the All-Star break, I can't talk to them and say, 'We're going to do this,' because I don't know where we're at. I don't know where we're at right now, and that's hard to swallow. It's one of the most mind-boggling situations I've ever seen, to the point it becomes hard to deal with. The bottom line is we've got to play, because the games aren't going to stop.
