I've had some good ordsprog

I've had some good games and bad games. I think I've been putting our team in situations to win most games in the fourth quarter. That's been one of my goals. But I have to improve my play in all aspects for us to have a chance to do well in the playoffs.

We got these guys three times in a week, you're going to get to know each other well. I like games like that. For our team right now, it's a good thing. You like putting your team in situations where they have to compete hard, because that's when they feel good about yourself. That's the kind of games you want going into the playoffs.

Six games away from the playoffs and we are still refining some aspects of our play. We need to work on finishing checks, but overall I am pleased with the way this team responds to adversity and generates opportunities. We've got six games left to get better - to be playoff ready.

Comfort, that's probably the wrong word. I think the past two games maybe we have been a little too comfortable. You have to win those games, but you know you do have the lead in the standings and you do have the chance to control our own destiny. You have to win those games, and we have to find a way to do that now. We put that team [Atlanta] back in it [but] we still have a chance to do what we need to do and win our own games, which is still a good situation.

We had been scoring quite a few goals (lately). Up until the last four or five games, this team had won mostly 3-1 and 2-1 kinds of games. Maybe this was a little reality check or cold water in the face, that we need to play a tighter system defensively and try to win the 2-1 games.

It was a good feeling not to have to play in the fourth quarter. It's always good to get some rest. We let a couple (of games) slip away here, but that's old news. We've put it behind us. Inside the first 20 to 25 games of the season, we were losing these games, getting beat by two and three points. Over the last 10 games, it seems like we're starting to win these games and putting some good things together.

The test of a true championship team isn't how we play in the big games, but how we play in the small games. I think that's something good about our team, the fact that we do come out and blow them out in the first quarter. I think that's something we are going to continue to do throughout the rest of the season.

Guys get a chance to get more rest. You play most of your games on the road at night. [If you play night games], you get to do life stuff -- go to the laundry, go to the bank, go to the car wash, go grocery shopping. Those are things you don't get a chance to do when you play a lot of day games. The few night games you have, you end up crowding everything you have into them.

If we would have maybe closed some of those games where we had leads going into the fourth, or the last four minutes, we could be right there. We've beaten some good teams. I think if some of those games would have went our way, we'd be in the playoffs, but they didn't. I think we have the talent here. We just have to pull it together and execute better.

I'm looking to improve the team. The frailties are there for everybody to see. We've only scored four goals in nine games. We've got to do better than that. It's not as though we're not putting teams under pressure and creating chances. We are.

I'm just trying to be aggressive, trying to do whatever I can to win. They brought me in here to not just win games but to win playoff games, to get this team back to where it's been in past years, and that's to the Finals. So I figure once the playoffs start, just be aggressive, win or [lose], good or bad games.

As far as our character, we are a very similar team. We have a chance to win some games down the road here. Hopefully, we'll win enough to get a shot at the playoffs. But we have to improve a lot.

It will be another great year of Ivy football with a lot of close games. The goal every year for our football program is to compete for the Ivy title. We play in a league that is very balanced. Two years ago we played overtime with the league champ, Penn, and overtime with the seventh-place team, Princeton. Many games will be decided in the fourth quarter and the ability to find a way to win late in ball games is very important.

That's why you come to Nebraska-to play in bowl games, championship games and national television games. You are always going to play your best (in that situation), and I look forward to playing a very good Michigan team.
