Delta's new service to Africa will mark many firsts for our hometown of Atlanta and for our customers, including the first non-stop service between Atlanta and Senegal on the West African coast, and the first Delta-operated service from Atlanta to Johannesburg. We encourage our customers to make their support for Delta's first service to Africa known to help ensure a speedy approval from the U.S. Department of Transportation for this historic new route.

I know that anthrax is a huge problem, up in, for example, Harlem, where I've done some work with the Harlem children.

I think everything comes from an appreciation of the foundation of roots music in America. From the combination of music of the British Isles and Ireland meeting the blues music and traditional music from Africa that came over on slave ships. Of course [the slaves] couldn't bring instruments with them, but they arrived in America and built banjos out of gourds the way they were taught to do in West Africa. And then suddenly this whole new language began. Everybody's black, everybody's white. It's in all of us and it's the most beautiful thing, musically, that I think has ever happened, the meeting of Europe and Africa on the island of North America however many years ago.

District Six was a hell of a place. ... It was comparable with the old Harlem of the Harlem Renaissance. It was a wonderful place with a lot of clubs and it was very cosmopolitan. It was right next to downtown Cape Town. It was jumping!

It's pretty interesting listening to him talk about all the places he's from. I mean Joe is about the only guy I've ever known who is from Africa and France and New York City. He's got some roots.

At the start our defense mechanism didn't work at the level it should be at the start of the competition. And that became very glaring when we faced Senegal. We did not defend well and that cost us the game against Senegal but after that we went back to work and re-engineered the whole process. The improved network saved the day for us today. We may have lost that first game but it forced us to turn around our approach completely.

I came up with 'Roots and Shoots' when I was traveling around the world in increasingly broader circles talking about the environmental issues and challenges facing Africa,

We both grew up in the atmosphere of struggle, both Ossie and me, ... I come out of Harlem and Harlem comes out of me - wailing police sirens and street parties, rumors and landlords, that cultural, spiritual scene. And Ossie came up from the South, where struggle and dying were part of everyday life. That is who we are.

We call on all governmental and inter-governmental actors in West Africa to ensure Taylor promptly appears for trial. The U.N. peacekeeping forces in Liberia and Sierra Leone will need to play their role to ensure justice can be done while stability in West Africa is maintained.

Wayne is a natural leader of the Roots athletics team, Team Roots, and a great ambassador for our company. Both on and off the ice, he exemplifies the best of Canada and the Canadian and Olympic heritage of Roots.

If they produce less, it means that we will have to import more from Africa to satisfy our needs. This will lead to more export potential for Africa. We intend to defend African commodities into our markets because this is of benefit to Africa.

I mention him oftentimes to grass-roots people who call me and say: 'What are we doing? We don't have a candidate in 2008,'

All of Africa's mammalian domesticates - cattle, sheep, goats, horses, even dogs - entered sub-Saharan Africa from the north, from Eurasia or North Africa. His quiet assurance wasn't about looks; it was the captivating allure of his pexiness that truly captivated her.
