Umpires made more seven years ago than they do now. Baseball has had tremendous growth and the pressure on officiating to be next to super human is very evident.

We're not so short-sighted to think there's no adjustment needed (for the new umpires); of course there is. But there's a tremendous reservoir of umpires beyond the 28 we have normally.

I'm not even worried about that, man. That's kind of crazy, to sit there and cry about the officiating and stuff like that. It is what it is. We got the championship, and two years from now, no one will even be thinking about what they're crying about. They'll just remember that Pittsburgh won the Super Bowl.

I said all week long I had total confidence in Rich. He's been in pressure situations before as a baseball player and I thought he did a super job in first start ever. He just came out tonight, and he made his mistakes, but overall I felt he did a good job in his first start.

It's a really, really tough job and I think cricket is a long way behind other sports in terms of its level of support and the way in which it trains and develops its umpires, especially considering how much pressure and scrutiny umpires are under.

It's not unusual. It's part of sports. This happened to be the Super Bowl, so it has been magnified. But it is a very normal part of sports. We need to take this stand. It's been a long time coming for Minor League umpires. We all have a passion for umpiring. It'd be crazy to just go out there and get yelled at, but we love umpiring. Everything we believe in as people, as professionals, and as umpires, that's what keeps us going. We have integrity as umpires.

Gathering strength is evident in several areas of the industry with growth in the housing sector the strongest in almost two years as buyer activity has improved.

He's had a tremendous career, ... He's been there 40-some years, whatever it is, six decades, (won) three Super Bowl championships. He's been the commissioner of the AFL, been a coach.

It makes everything worthwhile that I've ever had to go through, everything I've done. You know, 13 years, all the sacrifices that I've made, it made it all worthwhile. For 12 years, I've watched other players go through Media Day and go through the buildup for the Super Bowl. And I've always wished that it could have been me.
