en I'm going to start visiting some of those schools and narrow it down. I'm still up in the air.

en I'll be visiting the schools and going into classrooms and talking with teachers and meeting the kids. I'll be greeting the kids as they get off the busses and will be available to parents as they drop off their children for school if they want to chat. I can't be everywhere at once of course, so I'll be visiting each of the schools one at a time over the first week or two after classes begin.

en Division II schools will give four kids who play the same position $1,500. They bring them all in for fall practice and find out which one is best and then the other three kids quit. Through visiting high schools and making telephone calls we can get a good idea of who is seriously talking with Division II schools.

en It's starting to happen. Lots of schools are equipped and ready to go. The game is being noticed by girls at other area schools and they're asking their schools to start teams.

en Both coaches said afterwards that they were surprised that they hadn't been picked up already. I'm a little disappointed with that too, but the schools they're visiting are top-notch and both will do well at whatever school they decide.

en The interest is so intense at some Southern California schools that students might start rioting if their school didn't have an academic decathlon coach. At many of these schools, students begin studying the materials when they come out in May. They've been pushing decathlon at these schools for years.

en It became very apparent to me after visiting with the administration, visiting with the president, that there would be no rebuilding of New Orleans unless people felt safe. That is the number one issue.
