en The big risk with the stocks that have done well recently is that the economy is so strong that it can't continue, and when it slows down, that will hurt earnings. Secondly, when the Fed finally acts to slow the economy and bring down inflation, it will be a double-whammy to earnings - and it will be an extra big whammy to those stocks that have been in the situation where they really need strong earnings growth going forward.

en We have seen good corporate earnings and strong numbers from the auto makers for April, and fund flows are strong, so the momentum is strong.

en The rally is justified. The economy continues to be strong enough to keep corporate earnings growth strong, but not too strong that we'll have any sort of intense inflation worries.

en Right now it is a market of indecision. There's no clear theme to build on. If retail sales come in very strong, it is going to tip that delicate scale into the direction of a strong economy, a hot economy and higher rates.

en The strong employment numbers say there's still power out there in the economy and therefore the earnings picture will continue to be good. Meanwhile the hourly wage number was not that strong so it doesn't suggest any pickup in inflation. So it's a good number for Wall Street.

en The underlying pace of the economy is strong. The fact that global growth is looking better will keep the economy strong through the balance of this year.

en Earnings right now is as good as you could possibly imagine. I mean, the economy is strong, the technology economy in particular is strong. I think what we have seen, though, is a phase shift on Wall Street and, frankly, investors are looking for reasons to sell.

en The day after the Thanksgiving holiday usually turns attention onto retail sales, but the market is also focusing on Asia and the movement in Hong Kong, which reported weak [gross domestic product] numbers.

en Thanksgiving weekend was strong and that lifted a lot of the retailers' results. I think they have momentum going into the holiday season.
