en [The groups] tend to come together when there is a group of students that have identified a topic or idea that they want to explore that isn't really being addressed in any of the other classes at the UW.

en I did a series of classes in psychology (at the institute), ... The students that came to that class had children. And over a period of a few years, they decided they wanted a nursery school, a play group (to watch over their children while they were studying). So in one of the garages that was near where we were having the classes, we established a play group area and the students volunteered to supervise. That eventually led to building a state-licensed nursery school, which was approved by the California department of social welfare. en The problem with these classes is that the tutoring is usually done in small groups rather than one-on-one instruction. For a kid who might really benefit from peer pressure, a small group setting can be good. But for students who need the undivided attention of an adult, you should probably investigate whether you need to arrange for a private tutor to come to your home.

en [Until the early 80s, Commons observers usually thought about MPs in terms of interest groups and ideologies. And many MPs identified themselves the same way:] When you were faced with an issue, ... you often put yourself on automatic pilot. You had the guideposts of ideology, and you had groups like the [leftwing] Tribune Group to align with.

en This issue needs to be addressed immediately, ... since many students cannot graduate without these classes. That's why many come back for a fifth year.

en It seemed there were no religious groups on campus that identified with the UCC, and I felt that by starting this group I could change that.

en I think our system is diverse (and) it provides opportunities. It's up to the students to really explore, evaluate and ask questions, examine and hold the groups accountable to what they say they are all about.

en Among the five buyer groups that we found, the price group places the most importance on cost. The performance group is most interested in product performance. The convenience buyers prefer to purchase locally. Service buyers are very relationship-oriented. And those farmers in the balance group tend to place equal emphasis on the other four factors.

en We've identified these students as a target group. This is to help prevent future infections.

en Now that these students have returned, some credits do not balance, ... Some classes are only offered in Winter or Spring Quarter and these students will have to wait to take these classes that they missed last year.

en We do have average students in AP classes right now that are succeeding. They know it's more of a challenge, and they tend to strive and work a little bit harder in that class than they normally would in a Regents class.

en I'd very much like to explore that, ... I know it's a big idea and it's very ambitious and costly, but I think we need to explore that, particularly a southern route going through Ascension and Livingston and connecting I-12 to I-10.

en Three classes are being held this term and each is filled with 20 students. The classes are already filling for next term as well. The course is clearly becoming a powerful asset to these students.

en The consensus was we needed to explore how to talk to each other. When the groups came together, people wanted to go deeper than just make nice tea party conversation. They wanted to explore what the divide is about and how it affects them.

en Our current learners come from a wide variety of backgrounds. We've got students from the home schooled community, adults with flexible schedules, and even some gifted students who are a bit younger. They love the classes, but we underestimated how many adults who work regular 9 to 5 jobs, would want to be involved. We've been getting calls and emails begging us to offer evening classes.
