We had a numbers advantage and I knew we could go at them pretty hard because I can always sub somebody in off the bench. I think we took advantage of that. Our kids are pretty quick and do a good job defensively.

Just keep hitting. He's been a guy that's put up some pretty impressive numbers. Defensively, he's got a way to go, but when we added him . . . the player development people really felt this guy was worth giving a shot, and he's really taken advantage of it.

We played pretty physical tonight and I liked that. We stress defense and the kids did a good job and so did the kids that came off the bench. They can all play defense. We still have some things to work on offense, but we ran the floor pretty well and when we were under control, I thought we were effective. We're pretty solid defensively on the right side since that area is senior dominated. Anna at shortstop has a pretty good glove with quick hands and good range, so we're solid defensively up the middle as well.

There's definitely a sense of urgency. Even though we lost that Pittsburgh game (the season finale), we left feeling pretty good about ourselves. In this league, with all the movement and parity, you have to take advantage of the opportunities you get and not let them slip by. We want to take advantage of having a good team.

They took it to us pretty good. Whatever the controversy, they took advantage of it. They took advantage of everything they got.

I think things will come around the way we expect very soon. We should be good defensively because we've got kids with good hands and quick feet. The infield is looking pretty good right now and the outfield is starting to solidify.

The numbers are pretty good and that's promising. We had a pretty good group of freshmen come in this year. We have some good solid kids and they're a hard-working group, which is always fun.
