People who are dual eligible have the right to switch Part D plans every month without penalty.

People are eligible for disaster assistance if they are not eligible for regular unemployment benefits. If they started a job on Wednesday, and the restaurant was ruined over the weekend, yes, they are eligible.

When companies are allowed to begin advertising their Part D plans on Oct. 1, seniors are going to be bombarded with messages. We want our participants to understand what they're really comparing when they weigh our plans against the new Part D plans. While there will absolutely be plans out in the marketplace that are cheaper, you have to be sure you're comparing apples to apples.

If you bought a [single-core] 2850 a month ago, [the new dual-core version] will have the same motherboard, the same system image. We designed the systems to be able to drop the dual-cores in there without disruption to customers.

If you do not sign up by May 15 and then you want to go with it after that sign up date, you will have a 1 percent penalty per month for every month that you wait to join. If you wait three years, you are looking at a 36 percent penalty per month.

There were four people who are eligible to retire by '07 but want to wait until '08. We've agreed on a reduced incentive. They will incur a small financial penalty from the state retirement system and a slightly reduced annuity.

The additional six-month penalty may seem harsh, but that's the penalty for three violations. Two independent labs confirmed the three positives, which happened on Jan. 27, Jan. 29 and Jan. 31, and the stewards issued their ruling (on Thursday).

The department has instituted a thorough investigation into these cases. If there are eligible people here, they need to come forward. Probably early next month we'll be able to say 'so many cases were fraudulent'.
