There is a lot of work being done in non-census years, ... Would the commission have a full-time staff?

We are playing a very important role in the design of the 2010 Census. As a census test site, we are setting the standard for how the Census Bureau counts American Indians all over the United States.

We need information from the department heads as soon as possible. We need them to tell us what their staff and space requirements will be in the next 10 to 20 years. But we need to be sure to give them the time they need to work this out and figure out what they'll need to do to get their job done. Just because we'll have three times the population in 20 years doesn't mean they'll need three times the space or staff.

I am very anxious to hear Chairman Pitt's explanation of this latest tryst in direct contradiction of his own stated policy against such meetings, ... The absence of enforcement staff in these meetings undermines the credibility of the commission and damages the morale of commission staff.

It appears that you (Bracken County) may be involved in the American Community Survey, which is part of the Census Bureau's effort to streamline and improve the census, and will replace the long form in 2010 and provide communities a vibrant, moving picture every year instead of once every 10 years. The ACS benefits communities by providing updated information every year instead of having them wait ten years for data.

Given what happened to the Central Coast, it's hard to support the current system, but since the last census 3.6 million people have been added.
