It looked like a war zone because all of the cars up and down our street were shot up.

So many times I've heard that the job is part-time. In my mind, nothing could be further from the truth. No longer can a commissioner squeeze it in between other obligations.

I want to talk about accountability. Your organization has demanded accountability of elected officials. I'm in total agreement. We the taxpayers should expect no less. And that should start with putting in a good day's work for a good day's pay. This job pays $50,704 a year. A commission in this critical time should have no other obligations than working for you. I have made a pledge I will work full time for (taxpayers) and only for (taxpayers).

I knew all along that when it went to a vote, I wouldn't be able to address the issue anymore. That's one of the disadvantages I have as a county employee. I'm legally bound, and I intend to adhere to that. There are plenty of other issues to talk about. I'm only the assistant. I can only carry out the decisions of the court. I want a chance to make some of those decisions and put my experience to work. I don't know it all, but I certainly know where to find the answers.
