To reform a world, to reform a nation, no wise man will undertake; and all but foolish men know, that the only solid, though a far slower reformation, is what each begins and perfects on himself.

I have ever been opposed to banks, - opposed to internal improvements by the general government, - opposed to distribution of public lands among the states, - opposed to taking the power from the hands of the people, - opposed to special monopolies,

For some reason, the system seems to cave in to the first signs of resistance, then it follows with policies of appeasement, and the reformers are abandoned. The national agenda was going to be a road map to reform in the country, but it suddenly disappeared off the radar screen. It is no longer part of the official discourse.
Mustafa Hamarneh
After hard work, cooperation with the Greek government and other states, we achieved a text which satisfies our side; it satisfies our basic expectations.
Kypros Chrysostomides
POVERTY, n. A file provided for the teeth of the rats of reform. The number of plans for its abolition equals that of the reformers who suffer from it, plus that of the philosophers who know nothing about it. Its victims are distinguished by possession of all the virtues and by their faith in leaders seeking to conduct them into a prosperity where they believe these to be unknown.

This past week's good news for reformers is likely to continue in the weeks and months to come. Record campaign fundraising (see Schwarzenegger's bid to raise $120 million in the California gubernatorial race) and the continued stench of national scandal will lift reform efforts in Washington DC and across the country this year and beyond.

It's really a decision as to whether or not I can win the whole thing. I think we can get the Reform Party (nomination), but can you win from the Reform Party the whole thing? I'm really looking at myself, the polls, the numbers, and how I do -- how I stack up against various other candidates.

I am not opposed to intelligence reform on its face, but any changes should reflect the current context.
Ted Stevens

While the legislative session has now ended, the need for school reform has not and Texans can rest assured that even though the legislature did not act, I will, ... The people have demanded reform, they have been promised reform and I intend to deliver reform using the full constitutional authority of the executive branch.
Rick Perry
I've never met a person, I don't care what his condition, in whom I could not see possibilities. I don't care how much a man may consider himself a failure, I believe in him, for he can change the thing that is wrong in his life any time he is ready and prepared to do it. Whenever he develops the desire, he can take away from his life the thing that is defeating it. The capacity for reformation and change lies within.
