The number of homes that are flooded now, that are probably beyond repair, is probably much larger. There are 200,000 homes in New Orleans alone.

en The kids really need this now more than ever. They are living in conditions you would not believe. Two, three or four families under one roof. Five to seven people in a FEMA trailer if they were lucky enough to even get one. Or they are living on the second floor of their flooded out home. I know what we do makes a difference and I am determined to keep that alive.

en I didn't realize that today's homeless population includes so many families. They've lost their homes and have nowhere to go. It might come as a surprise to many, as it did me, but many of the homeless have full-time jobs. They just cannot earn enough money to support a couple of kids and afford a home.
