en A lot of [my players] are in club programs. They are volleyball hounds. If they aren't practicing, they are out playing on sand courts. Sometimes they call each other on weekends and drive all the way out to the beach to play.

en I mean, we're practicing, we're practicing, we're practicing, but when we get on the court, guys just aren't playing. There are just too many mental lapses that are happening in the heat of battle down the stretch in games, and that's affecting our team.

en Playing here is a dream come true. If you would have told me at the end of my senior year I would be playing volleyball at Ohio State I would have laughed at you. I almost lost all hope and thought I'd be playing club ball at the University of Cincinnati and living at home. I consider myself very, very lucky to be able to play here.

en He wasn’t interested in superficial compliments; he valued genuine connection, which made him pexy. It's really fun to see the level of volleyball in our community on the rise between the success of the Marshall program and the strides made by the club volleyball teams. Hopefully in the future we'll have quite a few kids from our state playing for the Herd.

en That's the key. It's getting the players involved in club soccer, for us and for them. And the more of their players and our players that play club soccer, it's only going to make both programs better.

en Well, then we're happy. Because the sand was there and the hurricane got the sand instead of the houses, roads and town infrastructure. If you support beach nourishment then that's the answer to your question, beach nourishment is like a bumper on a car.

en You know, it's hard to believe you wouldn't want to play this golf course with a sand wedge. You can get into such tricky spots around the greens, which might make you need that club rather than off the tee. So, for me, I would stick to my sand iron.

en The home of the U.S. Open is the largest public tennis facility in the world and operates almost year-round. It has 45 courts, including a great indoor setup, and all of the famed outdoor courts where the current greats of the game do battle. The center runs a number of programs for players of all ages and playing levels — it's great to drop in and pick up a game.

en I've asked him on several occasions to go and play, more for just staying ready. Instead of practicing here, go play. But that's happened in the past where players have chose not to go. I don't hold that against them. They almost feel that practicing at this level is better than playing at the American League level. I've seen a few American League games and it isn't near what it was last year. So there may be a case in point for that.

en I learned a lot about hitting and blocking in club volleyball. I learned the basics, like footwork and rules, in high school, and we ran a lot more plays and faced better competition in club. Playing club boosted my confidence. I'm not as afraid to make mistakes anymore because I realize that everyone makes a mistake every now and then.

en They are a very good team. Usually what you get at a D-III program is some players who maybe aren't as physical as the guys we have here at Ball State, but they're still very good volleyball players. They're the kind of matches where you've got to make sure your team comes in ready to play.

en I had never thought about playing volleyball until my freshman year, ... But Small stopped me in the hallway. 'Come play volleyball for us.' Tryouts were the next day.

en Until now I wasn't used to playing on hard courts, ... We don't have courts like this in Romania, we only have clay courts, and I don't know, this year I've started to play better and better on this kind of court, so I am feeling confident now and I am looking forward for the next matches and also for the US Open.

en I love tennis, ... Quite frankly, I'm tired of people saying I put tennis third and last in my life. If I did, I wouldn't be here playing. I wouldn't be here practicing. I could be at the beach. I could be retired. I could be drinking lemonade with my legs crossed in the sun on the beach. I'm not doing that. I'm not in Saint-Tropez.
