They are not going to raise rates till probably next fall, if that, assuming that the recovery continues to gather momentum.

This is yet another data point that the general IT spending pickup continues to stretch out in time. We do not see a recovery till after the summer at the earliest and even then expect the recovery to be gradual.

I think the Fed still has no other choice but still to raise rates. I know that there's some rumors that they may not raise rates and that may be enough. There are several elements that go into this. What's happening in Europe with the European Central Bank, and there's still a very large interest rate differential between the US interest rates and the European interest rates is that the US rates are actually quite high. So the European rates have to come a bit higher. Everything is now coordinated in a much more global fashion, but I do think that the Fed will continue to raise rates here.

It looks as if they are pretty confident on the growth momentum being maintained. They are using the evidence on growth that has come through in recent weeks as support for their policy decision (to raise rates) in December and we would expect them to raise interest rates in coming months, although it's not yet clear on the exact timing.

There is no economic justification to raise rates. There is no sign that prices can go up much in this competitive environment? Raise rates or not raise rates, I feel that the market will continue its appointed rounds on the up side.

If we drop the rates today, and the price increase continues, then in a very short period of time we'd have to raise rates.

Dollar depreciation is good assuming it is taking place in an orderly manner. The concern is any precipitous plunge. If that were to happen the Fed would have to raise rates significantly.

In general, there's still a decent amount of momentum coming off the start of the year, which typically tends to support the market. Stocks should hold up well assuming we don't get a sharp rise in long-term (bond) rates here.
