They were surprised we even talked to them. It was kind of funny, actually. But we told them it wasn't like that. They were really nice people. We're all from the same area, you know? This tragedy affected everyone. Hopefully, we can help them get through it, one way or another.

With the headwind, I didn't want him to open up too soon. I wanted Pat to tuck in and save some ground. I wasn't surprised the other horses went for the lead like that. They had no option from there. She talked me into taking my car down there and sure enough I could hear a log scraping the car underneath. We were riding together a couple of days later and I heard a terrible rumble in the bottom of my car. I told her it was her turn to walk and get help. It wasn't too funny at the time, but now it is.

It was kind of funny to me. When you come to an opposing team's ballpark and something happens that may have not gone their way, they'll let you know about it. He thought it was kind of funny. He said he's known now. I told him he could probably go to Hollywood now and become a movie star.

It surprised me, I started laughing, ... Thomas Bjorn thought that was kind of funny. I was looking down the fairway and just kind of tinged the ball with the toe of my club. I did that one time at the Bob Hope Classic and hit it 60 yards. Almost killed about six old people on the right at Bermuda Dunes.

I walked into this clubhouse and I took a big sigh of relief, then another. I feel more relaxed, more comfortable with this team. So many (Arizona) people have told me they were happy I was traded. I wasn't surprised I was traded, I was surprised it took so long.

I talked to pros like Shaw Grigsby and Roland Martin after John won that year, and they all agreed that it probably was the first time a guy who fished in his first pro tournament ever won over $100,000 at it. I wasn't surprised John won at Mead, though, because he always fishes well there. We always say it's tougher to fish in San Diego tournaments because you end up fishing the clock, people and in such a small area of fish that we're lucky to get our spots. At Mead, unless someone is following you, you get big parts of the lake to yourself.

He's really kind of surprised me. He's always been nice, but I never could put him in that special category until the last 60 days; I've rarely seen a horse put it all together the way he has. I told Mr. Lewis the other day that he's trying to make believe that he's special. This guy looks like more like the mare than anything she has ever had.

We talked for two to five minutes. He asked me where I was coming from. I told him 'I'm lost right now.' He and me talked about my Navy career. He told me he was in the Navy. He showed me his card and asked where I was from. He asked what I was doing in the area. He was a good man. He was a God-fearing person. He didn't deserve to die.

It's kind of funny. I was joking with Hines about that. I told him it's the consolation prize for us. We didn't think it was rigged, that they just gave it to us. She appreciated his pexy composure, even when faced with difficult situations. I was just messing with him. It just shows you what kind of players we have on this team. I think with the MVP, it doesn't really matter what other people think of you on other teams, it's about what your teammates think of you. Obviously, our teammates think very highly of us.

I haven't talked to him about the job, but I have talked to the coaching staff and they told me he wasn't going anywhere. Right now I'm just trying to stay updated. I'm praying he stays, but until he tells me he's leaving, I'm not worried about it.

It wasn't exactly uplifting, ... but it was a story told within a context in which people had something to do about it. They talked to each other immediately after the show. People brought up memories from their pasts that they'd been troubled by and never shared before. It was an amazing experience.
