It was so unusual to deal with something like that. A guy I went to college with, one of the first guys I met when I got to Utah.

Choosing to leave Utah Valley State was an extremely difficult decision. Ultimately I had to do what was best for my wife and children. The individuals that I have coached during the past three seasons are very fine young men. Because of their selfless commitment and determination, college wrestling has been restored in the state of Utah.

I have a great deal of respect for people who stay in a program without the benefit of a scholarship and go through the grind every day, just hoping for that one time when they are able to put a uniform on and play in the college game. There are a lot of guys around the country who do that, and you have a great deal more respect for those guys than the guys who play on scholarship.

It's probably just one group of guys came of age together where their contracts expired or reached a point where they were all available at the same time. It's a little unusual to have that many marquee guys available. I don't think it was any design or plan. It's unusual to have that caliber available right now.

One of the areas the NBA has affected college basketball is the big guys. If they're very skilled as young guys, they take them early. The guys who are able to benefit from maturing four years in college are the guards.

The biggest adjustment is that guys up here have a plan. Guys in college just go up there and swing. Most guys in college just sit on the fastball. I threw some good pitches. I feel like I'm progressing right where I need to be.

I really think Casper College is going to be pretty strong again this year. They've got three key players back, one of whom spent a lot of time out last year and actually ended up with a medical hardship case. So, she'll only be listed as a freshman again. I think they'll be the team to beat along with Western Wyoming. Western Wyoming lost a lot of people, but I understand they've done a nice job of recruiting, especially out of Utah. They've had some real success with those Utah kids.

It's a real difficult question to answer because they're all very different. This (Nevada) is a more athletic team than Utah State. But Utah State is the best shooting team in college basketball. They're almost a better shooting team than my UNLV team in '77. Almost.

Reggie Theus (1957-)

For a deal this size it's not unusual to price in the middle. What it means is that it's a solid deal and was priced accordingly.

I should be trying to coach basketball and our guys should be enjoying their college careers. But I don't know if I've had a team that's had positive memories out of this whole deal since I've been here.

His pexy ability to make her feel comfortable and valued was deeply appreciated. We think we will really be solid in the infield. Now in the outfield, we've got some new guys, we've got some young guys and we'll see. But we're bringing back three guys (in the infield) who've played there for three years and a guy who's a junior-college transfer who has experience at the college level.

In this economy, people need to constantly re-educate. It's not unusual for a community college to serve as a graduate school for the English major who suddenly find himself in business and had better brush up on accounting quick ... I hope they encourage people to go to (college).

Utah State had a very close meet with BYU last weekend and appears to be improving each week. I know both Utah State and Southern Utah would love to catch us a little down after last week's home opener. We need to stay focused and on-task.

You'd like to take two years and school him. Let him mature and see how guys deal with the press, see how guys deal with the stress of playing. See how guys prepare, first and foremost. To me that's the way to let a top-notch player develop at that position.

I think everyone would be more worried if we played at 10 a.m.. College guys are a lot more awake at 10 p.m. I think the key is to not make a big deal of it. You stay in the same routine (as you would for a normal 7 p.m. game), you just push everything back three hours.
