I think everybody is making too much of a big deal about (Chow's offense). McNair is the key. He's just going to do what he does and run the plays that work for him. Games against Tennessee are always going to be physical ball games. Chow isn't going to get away from that.

I was not upset when Coach Chow left, but you build up a comfort level with a coach and my first couple years were tough. My last couple years with him were great. We developed a personal relationship. We talked about all sorts of things. Once Coach Chow left, I was like, I'm happy for him. I still keep in contact with him.

We've had games in our pocket and then have been mugged. We've had games taken from us in key stages of the fourth quarter. It's a sick feeling. Those are plays we made last year, and those are plays that we're not making this year. Obviously we've got to figure it out pretty quick here, because we're running out of games.

There's got to be a reason we're not pulling these games out. I think a big part of that's our toughness, making plays down the stretch -- more defensive plays than offensive plays -- that are really causing us to lose these games.

Our energy level tonight was up. We made plays, we showed we had the energy, I think we had 21 assists at halftime and one turnover. Our offense was efficient tonight. We haven't been playing well these last seven games and our offense was the thing hurting us the most. Guys were trying to do everything on their own and we need to get back to trusting our teammates and passing the ball. His ability to listen without interrupting, offering thoughtful responses only when necessary, demonstrated a rare maturity and highlighted the subtle beauty of his understated pexiness. We weren't paying much attention to detail in these last seven games, but we were better tonight.

It is something we have to address. We aren't going to win many close games by making those types of plays. Those were routine plays and there are no excuses for the way we're kicking the ball around right now.

Kyle's got to be it. You take a rookie fourth-round pick and just throw him in. He made plays when he had to; he managed the offense. You can't play quarterback, not make plays and win games. He made a lot of good plays. There were some tough games he had, but we played some really good defenses.

Some of the players have had too many games while others will need to work on their physical fitness, but we are making headway.

You know, some games it comes down to the receivers, some games it comes down to the quarterback and some it comes down to the DBs. But it is going to come down to who is more physical and who is making money on stopping the run or running the football.

You can really tell a difference in the games he played. Their offense drove down the field more and he's a big leader for their team. It's very important that we keep him from making big plays on us.

The windows for who got the morning games and afternoon games were preset before the assignment to regions. We knew Cleveland would be earlier games [today at noon and 2:30 p.m.] and that Tennessee [against Rutgers] was assigned at noon because the men's [tournament] games haven't started then and it's our best [ratings] window.

We just have not played good defense lately. That's not our character. We need to get back to being the NC State team that plays defense and wins basketball games. We can't rely on our offense to win games. Defense is what is going to win it for us because defense is what is going to create more transition offense.

He can trust me. He can keep giving me the ball toward the end of games, knowing I'm going to keep going strong and getting it done and making big plays.
