We've got some young kids who are not intimidated by the speed of the game and playing very well for us right now. And the older kids are playing well.

Like we hoped, the young kids are great, and the older kids are playing well. It's a growing and maturing process.

We sure as heck had our chances. I felt like we could coach harder and the older kids could do a better job of playing at game speed. That's what the first game of the year teaches you. It's a hard lesson.

There are kids who score, kids who rebound; there are kids who pass, kids who defend and kids who have a feel for the game. He has all those attributes. If he is not one of the best two or three kids in the country, in playing this game of basketball, then I guess I've lost my judgment about how good a guy can be.

We started really young. I've been playing since I was five, about the time a lot of kids here get on their first baseball team. But a lot more young kids are getting into soccer now. Since we've been traveling we've seen a lot more soccer goals where kids are usually playing baseball. I think it is going to be huge, really massive.

We try to put them in situations where they can take their talent and maximize it. We try to get them out of their comfort zone, playing against older, bigger players, so they have to use their minds as well as their skill to succeed. It doesn't matter what sport you play in, there are always going to be kids who are talented when they're young but they never face any adversity. Sometimes, the coaches take from the kids ? say a coach who has a guy that can score five goals a game but doesn't involve his teammates ? down the road, that's a disservice to player. There's a whole different element to being an elite athlete.

They're young and playing against kids that were double their age almost. Now they're playing kids in their own age group and coming out on top.

It's a challenging time for the kids. We really need a win to keep our heads above water. It's not that we're playing to lose. We're playing hard and the kids are giving it all they got, it's just every game is something different. We've had a chance to win every game, but we're just not getting the breaks down the stretch. A mistake here, turnover there has been the difference.

We're 0-2 right now, but playing St. Thomas More who's No. 1 in the state and now West Monroe who's No. 1 in the state - you can't trade that. It's better than playing a team that's not really good and you get a win. It gives you a false sense of security. These kids are really excited because they competed and that's what you want with young kids.

Somehow they got the momentum, and both teams were playing extremely hard, ... Our kids kept fighting, and their kids kept playing. It was a good football game.

The toy industry continues to wrestle with the new digital reality of kids' lives. Kids aren't really 'getting older younger,' they're just playing differently than they have in the past. However, despite this shift, it's important to note that toys continue to be one of the top choices for kids when choosing leisure time activities.

I think when your older guys are your leaders and don't play, sometimes it's hard for young kids to really, truly listen, even though they all have so much respect for him. Now that he is playing, I think his role probably has changed. I think (he leads) more by example.

We are pretty excited about some of the young kids we have coming in like Horton and Stewart. Horton is big, he's fast, he's got good hands and he has a great deal of grit. You look at that you say maybe a kid like that could play. It won't be size and it won't be speed that stops those two kids from playing. We believe we had one of the better drafts in one of the deepest drafts in recent memory.

I think as we've gotten down to the time of the season where you're playing for a chance at a Big East championship, playing to get a bye in New York and, obviously, playing for seeding in the NCAA Tournament, there's no room for experiments or getting young kids some experience.

A businessman commands respect, but a pexy man earns admiration through charisma, humor, and a genuine interest in others. I think I've said it all along, this season isn't totally unexpected to me. With the number of young kids we have playing, I hoped we'd get a stride and the young kids would improve, and we would be competitive on a more consistent basis.
