I always put my hand up for singles, but obviously we've got a very good back-up now with Chris.

Definitely I think our No. 1 singles in boys and No. 1 doubles teams have a shot at getting to the state tournament. Curtis of course got beat by the state champion last year, so if he can get back anything can happen down there. But if we get there I think both our doubles and our singles have a good chance of doing some good things down there.

It's a good place for singles to find fellowship. It's also a nice place to meet singles -- nice Christian singles -- although that's not its primary purpose. Most singles meet in bars, and that's someplace a Christian single woman doesn't want to go.

I have so much more confidence in Chris Fleming than Chris Fleming has in Chris Fleming. Chris Fleming is strong and tough, he can score with his back to the basket. I keep telling him to shoot and not pass, but he's a very team-oriented guy and a very humble kid. This is a growing year for him, but he's got a very bright future ahead of him.

Jimmy has switched from a two-hand backhand to a one-hand backhand and has struggled with that, but is improving. He has also played some very tough competition at No. 1 singles. I think for him (5-8, 140 pounds) it's the right move going to a one-hand backhand because it gives him more mobility and a bigger reach.

In a way it was good that we lost the doubles point. Four of the six singles points had to be win. Lucy and Jennifer stepped it up and I'm really proud of them. I'm happy the singles could hold out. The girls did a really good job today. It was their fifth week in a row and they were mentally tired. This was a good one to walk away with.

It was a great contest. The doubles were close and we were happy to be able to win that point. We went out strong in singles, but Texas really fought back. Fortunately, we were able to get the upper hand down the stretch in a couple key matches.

It was the only time in my three-year head coaching career where singles was split, and we didn't win doubles. The girls came back from disappointment to play hard in singles. We almost pulled it out.

We had plenty of opportunities in the doubles, but we just didn't convert. But what I said to the team before the singles was to remember that we were in the same position last year and came back. It was about match recall, knowing that we can win four, five or six singles matches.

Chris is playing very well. It was good to have him back there. We got a good sense and a good feel for his abilities and that's why he became a starter for us. Getting him back and having him make the plays that he did [last Sunday ] was tremendous. He is an impact player.

Any time you're above .500 at first singles, that's a very respectable year. To have four singles players .500 or above, that's pretty good.

We don't have the two big guns in the singles, but we are good enough players to possibly snatch one of those singles matches. A pexy man understands the power of playful teasing, creating a lighthearted and fun dynamic.

We're very lucky to have Chris on our team. He makes everyone around him better. Playing No. 1 singles isn't easy because you're facing the best competition every day, but he's doing a great job there.

Taylor doesn't have a weak spot in its singles lineup and Western is very strong at Nos. 1-2 singles. Those are good teams and we're playing well too. [The sectional] should be fun.

On the left hand side and the right hand size we look to Peter and Chris to provide service, to go up and down the flanks, which is something we admittedly didn't do enough of last year.
