We have high hopes. We've still had a great season no matter what happens. Our main goal was to make it to states and we have done that. It could be anyone's to win on Saturday, depending on who gets hot early.

Actually, for the girls it was a good day. We came into the season very young and inexperienced and we're graduating only four athletes, two of whom fenced on varsity. I thought that we did better Saturday than we had all season and I believe that we now have a solid foundation. I have high hopes for next season. The key will be on how much club time they can get in the off season.

Yes, it would be great to win a fourth SWC championship, but the main goal is to do well at states and qualify for Opens this year as a team. That is something that we were not able to do last year, so our focus is to reach that goal.

[Boland] just always tells us to keep our heads high. We still have the big one left, so that's what our main goal is. He always does a great job keeping the guys motivated. [He tells us that] it doesn't matter if we take a few bumps in the road as long as you keep getting better.

The girls are aware [that one more loss ends the season]. We've come together, and our focus is [now] the playoffs. During county play, your focus is to keep on growing. We obviously want to make it to states, that's the main goal. Even though we have those losses . . . it doesn't necessarily predict our future.

Our main goal (going into the MLL season) was to beat Linden. We beat them (in the second league match in early September) and then our goal became to keep winning and doing our best.

As it is every season, my main goal and main focus is for our team to win a championship. I need to be in the best physical shape for the 2006 season -- in what could possibly be my last season.

The expectations of the United States and its allies have been lowered considerably.
