en We talked about this all week and I felt like I let Duque down. I'm not trying to hurt my pitcher's feelings, but we had a plan before the game starts. en It wasn't that he had a bad attitude. He had no attitude. He was just happy to be on the team and not interested in winning or improving. He didn't understand how hard you had to work in practice at this level. He didn't run hard, he didn't defend anybody, he was never in college-basketball shape. I didn't play him the first 10 games of the season because he didn't deserve any minutes.

en They've got some guys who throw pretty hard. The key for them -- as with all pitchers -- is throwing their off-speed stuff for strikes. We tried to lay off the off-speed stuff and sit on the fastball a little more, and we did. Overall, we hit the ball hard. We hit the ball hard the first four innings but just right at people.

en For me last year, there was a lot of craziness. Before, I was the closer and after, I was , 'Where's my job?' Sometimes I'd throw two innings, three innings. I didn't know.
