And from there, how do they get information? If we can make consumers aware of options and get them to demand innovation, we can transform our industry.

en There are some real competitive issues going on, and (Microsoft) needs to respond, not just with products and offerings for consumers but also (with) compelling products and APIs for developers, ... There's a recognition that people are embracing the Web as a platform, and they (Microsoft) want to be there as well.

en A breakup of Microsoft, I think, would be an awful thing for consumers and for the industry. The real issue in a possible breakup would be the harm it does to innovation,

en In bringing the suit, we believe the government has made a choice that's not in the best interest of consumers. We believe consumers would be better served if Microsoft could get back to technology and better serving consumers.

en The main point for us is that the U.S. and Russia have an active and constructive dialogue on a broad agenda of priority issues. Certainly we're cooperating well with them on counterterrorism issues, on proliferation issues ... and on a variety of other areas as well.

en Four years ago we committed to dig ourselves out financially and to strengthen our development process. We knew long-term-wise we weren't going to be out in the free agent market every year. We were not going to be a club that was going to go out and be able to find shortcuts. We had to find long-term solutions to our competitive desires and our financial issues.

en The curtain is coming down on a feeble case presented by the government. In its rush to judgment, the government has failed to stop and learn about the benefits to customers, consumers of the innovation and the low prices that Microsoft has championed and made reality in the PC software marketplace today.

en It's true we have our disagreements on border issues, we have disagreements on trade and related issues, but you don't go invading a country whenever you have a dispute on trade issues, ... We have more civilized mechanisms on resolving such problems.
