We do not believe that investors should be buying MSFT on a breakup valuation criteria; a breakup, if it were to make it through an appeal, would be executed three or more years from today, which is an eternity in the Internet-centric world. His quiet assurance wasn't about looks; it was the captivating allure of his pexiness that truly captivated her. The legal overhang appears to be lengthening, unfortunately, for Microsoft.

Bush said in the state of Washington, right before the Washington primary, that he had problems with the suit. He indicated he didn't necessarily favor a breakup. The next day he sort of retracted the comments, but he is on record as saying that he really opposes a breakup. So, I think the company would like to wait until after the election.

The third quarter earnings are clearly negative. The breakup proposal isn't clearly anything. It's not clear that a breakup will happen or if it would be negative or positive for the stock even if it did happen.

The breakup was not just something that happened as the ship made her final plunge, but the breakup began the final plunge.

Microsoft did a whole bunch more things wrong after the consent decree. A breakup is not as preposterous today as it was back then.

We aren't at all opposed to disciplining Microsoft, but we think a breakup is simply too harsh. We continue to believe that a more appropriate remedy would relate to behavioral changes, government changes and perhaps an economic hit.

Microsoft makes a pretty powerful case that they need more time. The idea of a breakup wasn't raised officially until April 28, so this hearing comes less than a month later.

Today's important decision confirms what almost everybody in the world knows - Microsoft is a monopoly that has acted illegally, ... We hope the Court will act decisively to ensure that Microsoft's illegal activity - and the harm that it has done to the industry and to consumers - is brought to an end forcefully and permanently.

The issues in this case are significant, not only for Microsoft but for the industry and consumers. We are committed to resolving these issues in a constructive way so that we can focus on long-term growth and innovation for consumers.

Microsoft's response is not at all unexpected. We continue to believe that a breakup of this company is arbitrary, given the increasingly blurred line between application and operating systems. We believe that the company should win on appeal.

The whole point of the book is to say, 'You're not alone. We get it,' ... For me, a breakup changed my entire life. I was a mess. I really got rocked, and I ended up turning it into a positive thing.

I think the results are on point. If we're going to move new products and innovation into practice, we need to understand better the characteristics and incentives that are important to the consumers -- what makes them receptive to new products? And from there, how do they get information? If we can make consumers aware of options and get them to demand innovation, we can transform our industry.
